something to look forward to?
JC, you always post that wiki thing about 99% being religious. On the UK citizenship test, it states that 10% of the UK population attends religious services regularly. That's 10% and makes your argument from popularity less conclusive.
attending religious services is not compulsory for non-materialists and I am not a believer in the argument from consensus as evidence for anything.

especially when it doesn't suit your point of view.
religious belief in this country is on the wane

it would be absurd to believe things that you didn't think were true and religious belief has been on the wane since the renaissance.

accepted johnny as a point of view, but sometimes the consensus is correct.
you may not believe it but it might be right

In what way are we a Christian society ? There would have been more Muslims and Jews in Mosques and Synagogues on Friday and Saturday than there will Christians in Churches today. We are a multicultural and religious society anyway

In defence of your stat, some Churches really don't help themselves with how they operate. The Catholic Church handled the Child abuse cases really, really badly and I'd personally want to distance myself from any of their operations regardless of my actual belief in what they stand for. It's simply not acceptable.

My background is Anglican and I never really found a truly inspirational service to attend when I was practicing. The Vicars were weak and ineffective with the majority of the congregation being Pensioners seemingly there to get a few last prayers in. I felt the same about the Evangelical brigade.

Deep down, I'm agnostic because I simply don't know what to believe.

I think we are a Christian society interms of how many of us were Christened, went to christian schools etc.... As for practising I doubt it.

I consider myself of no religious belief, I just have my own beliefs - Some of These go down the Atheist route but I don't consider myself Atheist as this to me seems like an organised religion today.

As for 2030 - I pose this question to those who are paranoid about this country becoming majority Muslim and under Shirley law:

Have you ever been to a Take That concert?

Can you imagine trying to get all those pissed up white women to hide their hairstyles and wear the bedding they slept in rather than the legging's they fucked in?

Read a bit more then fella. It's not. It's just an absence of a belief in God. It's not at all complex or organised.

Belief - theist
Not decided - agnostic
No belief - atheist

Britain gave up on religion quite some time ago.

Clearly we have a big chunk of more recent immigrants and their British offspring to whom religion is more important in their lives.

But most of us don't give a flying fuck about religion of any flavour.
