Not sure I would go that far. Mooy has does well to cross from A League to Championship and then more than likely Premier League but he may be the only one for a while.
 
Nothing to stop any club going to an A League club and sign one of their players for little or no outlay. Clubs will usually allow players to leave to pursue their career in Europe or Asia. Not many of them have a transfer fee attached.

But that would mean showing a commitment to an "unproven" player. We did, and it looks like it was a good decision.

Exactly. Also Brattan was another but couldn't get into Bolton. Obviously wasn't good enough and Bolton wasn't the right team at the time.

We (Melbourne ) have 2 or 3 promising 16/17 year olds that are on the fringe of first team and with the appointment of Joyce maybe we can get a couple across in the next few years. At worst atleast the structure and pathway will be there to filter any good enough across.
 
Would have been nice to see him get a chance with us, but this is a great move for him and a very good one for us.
