Aguero banned for three games (updated)

He swung an elbow. You are not allowed to do that. If caught by ref or camera it is a 3 match ban. Get over it and move on. Nice rest for the lad. We can beat the rags without him.

Everyone has its the inconsistencies we are posting about.

Yeah pretty standard punishment really...about as bog standard as it gets.

Yes he did and the year before also the main point is he does it half a dozen times a season and gets Punished once a season

So he doesn't get away with them all, some lead to yellow cards etc so the FA can't do anything. You get away with some, some you don't. Aguero got away with a two footed stamp on David Luiz? This he may or may not..There inconsistencies across the board, just don't commit the offence in the first place and put yourself in the position to get banned, yeah the Fa are shitheads but the only person to blame here is Sergio.

So 1 more incident in his time at city he has got away with?! Like I said Bogbrush gets away with an elbow at least half dozen times a SEASON. Just want the fa to be fair not pick and choose depending on the outcry in the media.

Exactly. It's been posted earlier on in the thread but there are several examples of Fellaini elbowing players and getting away with it. The Zabaleta one from a few seasons ago the case in point. I hope City use those and the fact Marriner clearly saw it and is too gutless to admit it in Aguero's defence.

Football is such a weird sport when it comes to things like this. For me the bigger question that should be asked is whether Marriner should be allowed to continue as a referee. The footage clearly shows Marriner looking straight at it, but now he's copped out he no longer holds any responsibility. You can't imagine a court case with cctv of a witness looking straight at an incident and the lawyers saying "well he said he didn't see anything, fair enough... no further questions".
The thing is he could argue that although he had a view of the incident his mind was unable to process the finer points and so he failed to notice the offence. Which if true backs my position that it was probably a yellow card offence due to careless play (which looks far sinister when analysed in slow motion) rather than an outright premeditated assault which not even a blind man could fail to notice. The problem is that the ref is in a no win situation regardless of weather he says 1) He did not see(notice incident. 2) Saw incident and felt it was harmless and sticks to this opinion 3) In hindsight feels he made a mistake and thinks he should have issued a red. Now put yourself in Marriners position and honestly answer which response you would give.
