over a thousand colleges/unis have teams, the idea that the successful 1% do not have exceptional skills is illogical. Every position has special requirements, physical as well as mental. Learning the "playbook" has been a stumbling block for rugby players who have tried to make a career in the states, although a handful of footballers have made it as kickers where the job is straight-forward. As always in these perennial threads, the anti-usa agenda comes through loud and clear, making any rational discussion unlikely. There is nothing that cannot be improved, the situation with brain injuries being the most serious (for the nfl) but the corruption at the top of football is nowhere near being eradicated, despite the recent scandals. Whereas the Nfl has the draft system to at least try to produce a level playing field, fifa has nothing , in fact they make sure it can never happen by selling out to "commercial interests" like sky adidas etc ; awarding world cups to the biggest bribes. It boils down to glass-houses and stones blah blah.
To appreciate something as complicated as grid-iron takes a basic understanding of what is going on, the options available on each down; without this understanding it can look like random collisions and aimless running about, whereas on a football pitch nearly everything is revealed by just watching the ball. Apples and oranges , the two cannot be compared. The over-riding factor is that no-one is forced to watch something they dislike, sadly, some cannot resist the chance to take the piss out of those that do not share their opinions. Humans, hey..............
And a fine and joyful festive season to everyone ( except of course to rags, landlords, payday loaners, the banks, brexiters , atos , thatcherites , murdoch, traffic wardens, bailiffs, fifa , eufa , the fa, the nay-sayers, with special mention to jeremy hunt for his remorseless destruction of the NHS) x
