Question for anyone....was the Dead's tour of Europe in '72 a big deal over there?

My only perspective is a Yank's who is looking at it after the fact. Today we largely see it as the best tour of the band's career and the kicking off point of the "Golden Era" that went from 72-74.

Was this just another American band on tour or did people see it as something different?
