Bradley Wiggins

It's the rules that are wrong. Do not allow any TUEs. If you have a condition that prevents you from competing then tough shit. Sure, it's not your fault you've got asthma but then it's not any of the paralympians' faults that they're unable to compete in mainstream sports either. It's just tough shit.

I'm confident that paralympians are also allowed TUEs. I agree that the circumstances around Wiggins' injections are suspicious but suggesting that unwell athletes should be refused the most effective treatments if they wish to compete is ridiculous.

Fred and hilda across the road had the flu jab last week, i gleefully told em it was'nt winter yet and Fred asked me was i still mentkle....

However don't you think it strange that his asthma has never been mentioned. He could have been a role model to so many suffers that they should not get down and they too could be an Olympic ahampion one day and still despite having severe asthma compete at the very top in a massively demanding aerobic sport. However only now does it come out that he is an asthma sufferer.

Don't some cycling teams (not including Sky) have a voluntary agreement that riders taking TUEs will not compete while the drug is in their system?

Think of it like a 1-to-4 system, wiggins would be on a 1....the term abuse and bans get handed out at 4 and above, the fact he's got paperwork from half a decade ago to back-up his 1 may be lost on a football forum and folk will want to know why he told the specialists and governing bodies and not them....the ruskie's done well to muddy the waters

I don't think he should be obliged to disclose his medical issues, no. As much as you can make that argument, it's a private matter and completely up to him in my opinion.

The TUEs also have to be independently verified, so it's not as if he's been able to make up his asthma in order to make the advantageous injections available. In fact, as an asthma sufferer I tend to side with Wiggins. Mine isn't noticeable day to day but can flare up with exercise so I usually take preventative measures before doing sports. Crank it up some notches for Wiggins and it might be that he's fine cycling day to day but a 21 day tour of continuous high level performance pushes him over the edge.
