Well said. I always found it somewhat astonishing that the UK never got to vote on whether they should stay or go. Given the importance that they'd placed on oil, how interesting would the task facing Salmon and Sturgeon have been, as the oil price went from $120 a barrel to $30 a barrel? It would have been comedy gold!
As for your second point, public spending per head in the UK (14/15) was £8913. In Scotland: £10,374 (16% above the UK average), whilst in England it is £8638. What's more, the variance in England is £7756-£9840, so even the worst area in England gets less than Scotland, for no justifiable reason whatsoever. Joel Barnett has much to answer for.
