I cant wait for the first press conference either :) my life is about to resume at last..

I've just been trying to put a team together for this to post.

I really can't decide who to play as you're always going to leave someone of very high quality out.

What a great predicament to have.

Let's hope we can start the season on the front foot and bring 3 points from the South Coast.

Oh and no iffy yellow or red cards FFS.

Just announced that one of 'Albions' forwards (forgot name) has broken his leg and is out for 3 months?

Having been a Brighton fan since we used pounds, shillings and pence I thought I'd add my two penny worth - sorry! Anyway, thanks for letting me post on your board and here are few points from a Seagull's perspective :

The vast majority of Albion fans, well let's make that all, are counting the hours and minutes to this match. For us this is an occasion to relish, our first game back in the top flight since 1983, and if memory serves me well it was your goodselves that confirmed our relegation by thrashing us 1-0 at the Goldstone, and I woz there! A few weeks later we had the consolation of the FA Cup final against the red bit of your city, they did, we didn't, and the rest is history. From then on we went on a perpetual downward spiral with the odd blip of good fortune for the next 25+ years, essentially until we moved to the Amex in 2011. I won't bore you with the trials and tribulations of that period as it's covered elsewhere on this thread.

So, onto Saturday. Most Brighton fans, the realistic ones anyway, are expecting a City win but hoping for a draw or a shock win. Hey-ho you never know!

For those of you travelling down for the game a few tips :

Your match ticket entitles you to free travel on the buses and trains both to Brighton and Falmer within a designated area. The details will be on your match ticket or go on the club website.
The train journey from Brighton to Falmer takes 9 minutes, the stadium is right next to the station. Suggest that you leave Brighton station at no later than 4.30 as there will be a queuing system and the trains will be rammed. As an alternative, you could park in Lewes (if you're driving) use the pubs there and catch the train to Falmer (6 minutes).

After the match the Amex concourse bars are open for a couple of hours, so stay for a couple of pints until the queues for both the trains and park & ride buses have died down.

The best place to drink is in central Brighton (and Lewes),with some great pubs all within walking distance of the station. A few recommendations - the Prince Albert, the Lord Nelson, the Prince George all in Trafalgar Street. The Evening Star, for real ale and cider drinkers, in Surrey street and loads more. The away fans pub is the Helmstone (Wetherspoons) in West Street, just walk out of Brighton station and down towards the Clock Tower and seafront (it's about a 10 minute walk) - if you get your feet wet you've gone too far! You can go on pubs/bars/restaurants sites in Brighton for other suggestions but you're spoilt for choice.

So that's about it, hope you have a cracking day out and that it's a good game, but, please, I don't won't to hear "Agueeerrooo!!!" In the 94th minute!

Thanks for your post mate, very informative. one quick question though. I booked parking via the stadium and it says on the ticket "Stadium Car Park B (bridge car park BN2 4PN)"
looking at the postcode that is right by the stadium but is that park & ride as well?

like most on here its hard to pick the starting 11 and setup maybe pep will go with 3 at the back and just start and try and kill the game off and hope to score 2 or 3 before halftime and then change it up but the bench will be just about the best manchester city have ever had this season and options right across the park without playing players as cover for somebody at fullbacks its going to be fun and you wont fall asleep watching manchester city this season and blink and you could miss something

but you have to respect the teams coming up from the championship and on the first game its like a cup final without nothing to lose for them so city will have to be right on it from the whistle and just play our game and don't lose our heads and give them a chance city should win but i don't like to say easy nothing is anymore but when coming off at the end i want the whole of the ground to think manchester city are a great team

Information on this page. Scroll down. 1500 metre (that's the old mile race) tarmac walk to the stadium, it says. If it is the car park I think it is, it is a pig to get out of.

You're right, the Bridge car park (B) is next to the ground, well a 5 minute walk away. You leave your car and walk up to the stadium past university playing fields on one side and railway and Falmer station on the other. Easy Peasy! Re.my earlier post, I suggest that you hang around the Amex for half an hour or so after the game (have a beer etc.), as it will be bottle neck job exiting the car park when the game ends.

The Park&Ride site is further down Lewes Road (towards Brighton), one being University of Brighton (Mithras House) and the other being Brighton Racecourse. Once you've got on a P&R bus it's quite a quick journey back to your car, and not too bad getting away on to the A27 and A23.
