Celtic signing Boyata??

Looks like he's off, so presumably one of Denayer or Rekik will take his place in the squad.

The father of Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata has told Belgian TV channel RTBFthat his son will leave the Etihad Stadium soon.

Boyata, 24, joined City from Brussels all the way back in 2006, and whilst he burst onto the scene in 2010, the Belgian has struggled for first team football in recent years, playing just six games in all competitions this season.

Now it seems that Boyata has had enough of being on the sidelines at City, and will leave the club this summer - at least according to his father Bienvenu.

Bienvenu Boyata has told RTBF that his son does not want to stay at City, whilst a team has reached an agreement to sign the defender this summer.

"It is clear that he will not stay at Manchester City," he said. "He does not want to stay. City wants to extend his contract but as he will not play, he will not develop. A club has shown interest and has reached agreement with Manchester City, it will perhaps be made official next week. What club? It remains on the island!"

It's looking almost certain that Boyata will end up playing his football at Celtic next season, given that Bhoys manager Ronny Deila confirmed his interest in signing the defender during an interview with the BBC earlier this month.

Boyata's father mentioned that the club was on the same island, rather than saying the same country - again hinting that the club in question is Scottish giants Celtic.

All the signs point to a move to Glasgow for Boyata, and if his father is correct - and why wouldn't he be - the deal could be announced in the coming days as the Bhoys look to replace Jason Denayer, who will return to Manchester City at the end of his loan deal soon.

Hi mate......if the rumours that we're close to signing Glik are true....I think he would be the replacement for Boyata and get the feeling Denayer will be loaned out to a prem team for one year...I agree tho....would love to see Denayer get a chance in the 1st team squad this year.....

This would be a dream come true. I've watched us have some shit players over the years but this guy is up there with the worst of them.

was just adding to what had been posted on the thread...... that it was happening today!....
Sorry, Another topic too, but I have heard in the forum of us (Universidad de Chile), that Angelo Henríquez (from the Rags) is also wanted in Glasgow and would Celtic go for him as they need a new forward, if Guidetti is not staying there.... :/
