Champions League Coefficients - are they fair?

Any system which places a team who've won fuck all for 9 years (Arsenal) over a team who've won the title and both domestic cups in the last 3 years (Us), has to be ridiculous.

If Liverpool qualify for Champions League next season, will their 'history' get them into Pot 1 or 2 or will they have to start in Pot 4?

Having won it 5 times, Liverpool have obtained 'Automatic Pot 1' status dontcha know? ;)
