City v Liverpool - Post Match Thread

Obvious non serious injuries perhaps but 8 mins on the deck, multiple medical staff and oxygen being given as well as a neck brace tends to lead you to the conclusion that its a possible serious injury and to a man they normally get applauded off.
Originally I didn't think that the injury do Ederson was serious - but then the replays showed Mane's foot going cleats-first right into Ederson's face at speed.

Ederson on the ground, not moving at all, had me, really, really worried - so glad that he appears to be OK.

Week in and week out ex players talk about dangerous leg breaking challenges, wreckless challenges and yet justify this as ok? I find it bizarre.

Its not bizarre, its yet another example of the double standards applied when its us involved against a media darling.

It's a red 100% ... Mendy looked all over the place early doors allowing the ball down the side to leave oti exposed one on one. This would have continued against 3 pacey forwards and facing our 3 not as fast defenders without protection or cover - we would have conceded and pretty obvious. Worrying as it looked like we hadn't even worked on playing a back 3!? However nice and clinical after the red with KDB Jesus Sane shining. The dippers were a mess by the end. We showed against neverton that having 10 isn't always game over so no excuses for the victims.
Still think we need to play 4 at the back.
Cmon you blues!

Couldn't disagree more.
Our defence was poor up until the sending off which then of course changed the entire game.
Otamendi and to a lesser extent Stones were to blame through misplaced passes , poor clearances, poor tackles ( fouls). In part I think this is due to them being forced to play football the 'Pep way' (i.e. Total ), which can make it difficult for them to focus on their defensive duties.
And yet, we did not concede - largely due to Pep's tactics, 3 at the back with both fullbacks not pressing forward too much, effectively giving us 5 at the back.

Individually our defense made errors - collectively we were strong, with defenders providing cover whenever errors occurred.

We were well on our way to victory prior to the Red - up one, at home, playing defensively so as not to concede.

Gary Nevile's comment on the sending off is a joke.
He say's the "The reason that Ederson is Injured is because the back three have tried to step up".
Wtf!

No Gary, the reason Mane got sent off is because it was a high footed reckless challenge & Ederson ended up with his face ripped open.

It's been a while since we tonked one of the other 'big' teams I hope it gives us a platform to go and roll the rest of them over.
