Now we have been told we can all go abroad and get back to normal with a rather weak keep washing your hands etc then I reckon herd immunity is back on,not sure they will be too bothered unless the hospitals start filling up again

sweden have a lower new case rate than us

As I am sure you have guessed we know where a quarter of all these new cases have come from. NW setting a new daily record since end of lockdown.

But everywhere is up. We are just the biggest rise.

London 114 - highest in the new data sets that started a month ago when pillar 1 and 2 tests were combined. Double yesterday

West Midlands 88 - smallest rise of regions but highest in 6 days. Up from a run in the 60s.

Yorks and Humber 142 - up from 122 and largest for three weeks.

And North West - 212 - up from 178 and the first over 200 total from any region since the data changed. More than double what we were getting a month ago.

Really appreciate the time and effort you put into giving us the detail. All we get from the media are headline numbers with no comparrison.

How many deaths per population?

who cares people die Always have

it’s ridiculous the strategy was to save the nhs and flatten the curve , what is the strategy now I have no idea

if it’s to save lives everyone should stay on their bedroom on their own and never go out ever again that might help but people will still die of things .

having people frightened for their lives?

the only strategy was flatten the curve so the nhs doesn’t get overwhelmed what is it now ?

Is the new normal funerals and weddings with a couple of people present ? Never go and watch city again ?

Let’s say 70000 people have died ? Out of what 67 million people ?

it’s absolute fucking bonkers , meanwhile those with cancer heart problems and other serious illness are denied treatment

it’s a total fuck up

GM scoreboard has misery evenly spread.

Bolton 10 - same as yesterday - 211 in 28 days of new data - 50 in past week - 20 past 2 days. Pop score 692.4

Bury 7 - up from 5 - 80 over the 28 days - 29 in past week - 19 in past 3 days for what was the GM leader a week ago. Pop score 705.4

Manchester 29 - down from 32 - 400 in 28 days - 177 in past week - 77 over past 3 days - it was 38 over 3 days a month ago. Pop score 590.7

Oldham 29 - up from 17 - equals worst under new data - 291 in 28 days - 141 in past week (hence its troubles) - 66 in past 3 days. Pop score 892.1 Highest in GM and on route to the rare 900 UK club any day now.

Rochdale 7 - down from 11 - rare good news - 310 in 28 days - 71 in past week - as you see doing far better than Oldham.24 in past 3 days. Pop score 842.7

Salford 11 - same as yesterday - 149 in 28 days - 41 in past week - 27 past 3 days. Pop score 568.4 Still lowest in GM.

Stockport 12 - up from 5 and joint worst day so far for once top GM town - 115 in 28 days - 63 in past week after 52 in previous THREE weeks combined - 24 in past 3 days. Pop score 592.2. From being second lowest in GM heading for the pack of 600 club towns any day now.

Tameside 8 - up from 5 - highest in this town too under new data -103 over 28 days - 28 over past week - overtaken Stockport in past few days as third best in GM. Pop score 710.0. Which shows in terms of the pandemic v local population its numbers are higher than Stockport by some margin.

Trafford 14 - down from 18 - 66 over past week - 45 over past 3 days - Pop score 698.6 Likely to join the 700 club tomorrow.

Wigan 5 - up from 0 - bad day for top dog - 68 over the 28 days - 26 over past week - which is above average for here. Pop score 667.6

The other watchlist towns:

Leicester 22 - down from 48 - and about one third of numbers a month ago.

Bradford 46 - up from 44 - been slowly rising for past week

Blackburn & Darwen 22 - up from 12 - not showing much stability - up and down and pretty much standing still
