EFL trophy 2021/22 Scunthorpe U tonight (match thread)

You’re both watching the wrong game
Ha, just keeping an eye on other results.

United ended up losing 3-2 but with Hannibal Mejbri (the little cheat with all the hair if you've ever watched them) sent off in added on time. Two quick yellows (within a minute of each other by the looks) for bad fouls rather than screaming like a little girl and rolling around on the ground.

Chelsea drew 1-1 and won on penalties, it's a slightly weird format this competition.

Current format

64 teams enter from Round One, including all 48 teams from League One and League Two, along with 16 category 1 Premier League and EFL Championship academy/under-21 sides. The competition now features 16 regional groups of four teams (with eight groups in each of Northern and Southern sections), with the top two from each group progressing to the knockout stages, the first two rounds of which remain regionalised before an open draw from the quarter-finals onwards.

During the group phase, if the scores are level at the end of the match, then penalties are taken immediately without recourse to extra time. The winning team is awarded 2 points and the losing team 1 point.

Edit: only just realised that Lewis Fiorini played the whole match last night, well done lad.

Yep Palmer has it all one the best things he has is he looks before he gets the ball and after meaning knowing what options he will have once he gets the ball.. pep can do your stuff like he did with foden

I don’t think it would have been given offside if the player had allowed the ball to cross the line. Might be wrong of course.

It wouldn’t have been, but the player who touched it in wasn’t offside from the original shot anyway - Luke Bolton is keeping everyone onside by about 3 yards!
