Which we can 100% agree on, a fantastic addition if it can be finalised, hopefully before the red feks fluke the europa next week...

There was 3 mendez players that was being mooted, to me this looks like two out of three sewn up, a clean sweep and fuck me, happy days!

I don't think that Mendes is the agent of Fabinho. According to transfermarkt KICK & RUN SPORTS MANAGEMENT is Player's agent

He can't do it to the same extend as Yaya as he doesn't have the same passing range, and we can't really get anyone who can do that, so Yaya will still have his uses against teams which sit very deep (like West Brom and the rags), Fabinho tends to keep things more simple (more of a Busquets/Lahm midfielder than an Alonso/Yaya).

He's far better defensively though (which we desperately need as we've been far too vulnerable to counter attacks) and is also the best player I've seen in a long time at starting counter attacks as whenever he wins a tackle he manages to keep the ball so close to himself and immediately sends his players away, Monaco have scored an unreal amount of goals that start with him winning the ball and quickly unleashing their quick players. If we get him I think it'll be a dream for him to look up and see Sterling, Sané and De Bruyne (and potentially Walker) sprinting up the pitch.

I actually disagree here, Fabinho is really, really good at through balls from the base of midfield, and really good at lobbed balls out to the wings.

What I'm not sure about is the ability to direct play, choose the right option, push the opposition around with his passing. He hasn't struck me as the guy who everything flows through, and that's what he'll need to be if he's gonna be the sole pivot - but with pep as coach and Yaya around he's got no one better to learn from, and it might just be an area I haven't seen.

Fabinho will be our Busquets :-)

Thought I could hear wailing, so I popped over to 'RC' to read what the downcast denizens there were making of this news. They'd already identified Fabinho as heir apparent to Michael Carrick, though not as good as him, yet, of course. The realisation that Fabinho could well be coming to us is not going down well. Trust Daniel Levy will string them along until late August and then sell them Dier for 60 million.
