City bid for Falcao hints at change of mind over Van Persie

Posted on 21 July 2012. Tags: Arsenal, Falcao, Manchester City, Robin van Persie

It has been reported by Marca that Manchester City have had a €55m bid rejected for striker Radamel Falcao which could indicate that they are not confident of securing the signature of Robin van Persie.

Mancini has previously stated that he would not be selling either Dzeko or Tevez and a bid of this size for another striker would indicate that the Manchester club are, at the very least, shopping around for an additional striker.

While it is widely expected that van Persie will leave Arsenal this summer, his father has previously stated that the striker will not leave for Manchester City or any other English club.  Bob van Persie said:

It is impossible to go to another English team.

Of course, it is possible that City would see van Persie as a backup option should they fail to land another striker, or they could even bring him in as well as another striker however that would seem unlikely with both Tevez and Dzeko still on their books and Adebayor refusing to take a pay cut to join Spurs.

Manchester City recently had a bid for van Persie rejected by Arsenal and if the figures which have been reported are true their offer comes in at less than half of the valuation Arsenal have placed on their captain

would love him, but not at that price, also we already have the best strikers why do we need anyone upfront

not heard much about this , is marca trustable?

If we are in for him , then it would be a dream signing , unbelievable player , will cost atleast £45m , maybe around £50m which might just be too much unless we sell tevez/dzeko which we will if we are to sign another striker , highly unlikely

Dream on !!!!!

No player will form better partnership with Aguero more than Tevez.

Lets enjoy them for a season or two, and then spend +30 mil on another WC Striker.

Ah my dream signing but it's not going to happen at that sort of price.

By the way here is the link: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.marca.com/2012/07/20/en/football/spanish_football/1342769788.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.marca.com/2012/07/20/en/foot ... 69788.html</a>

It's very speculative really, as if City and Chelsea would submit identical bids.
