Our transfer policy is working just fine,we seem to be going for younger kids with lower cost and have them learn and grow with the others with the odd older player for experience,the club is in better nick now than ever before

Easy to see what Gary Cook was saying about how clubs, agents and players use City's name for maximum gain, with deals like this.

Agents and selling clubs continue to do very well off City's back but still join the queue to stick their boots in about transfer inflation with the rest of them.

Hopefully, other clubs have finally started taking notice that these days we consistently walk away, if we feel like they are taking the piss in what they are asking for.

I'd rather we get more deals done we can feel good about and let Pep work his magic with them, if however Pep really feels we should push the boat out for a particular player, I think he would get the backing, provided we stay within the FFP limits obviously.

Hardly surprising that we lost out on this one. Ndombele and Neves are nonstarters because they'll command at least as high a price given the clubs showing interest, and we've demonstrated multiple times that the club is not prepared to enter into bidding wars. Aouar does not have the physical attributes to play the position. Best solution now is to offer PSG a token sum for Rabiot, who is well rested and could come in before the window closes.

Was thinking the same. Really like Neves (don't know much about Ndombele other than the 2 games he played against us), but there's no way he'd go for anything less than De Jong being a young established PL player.

Hope FDJ just chose Barca and it isn't some monetary cap Txiki has, as it means we'll miss out on pretty much any ready made DM that can come close to replacing Fern

There isnt a ready made replacement. Next season Fernandinho will play a lot of games his replacement will be moulded by Pep over thae season. Doubt whoever we get will start as first choice.
