"Greed of 'big six' will kill our game"

But the principle is the same.

Not quite.

The proposals are nowhere close to the disparity in La Liga.

This is just concerning the foreign TV money.

The domestic deal which the Premier League is lauded for remains the same. 50% of that is split evenly amongst clubs, the other 50 is broken down as facility fees ( the number of times you're shown live) and merit based payments ( league finishing position).

Perhaps a deal can be struck where both sets of income are treated the same but a higher proportion than 50% is split evenly and reduce the facility fee payments. So say 75% of all TV money is split between all 20 clubs and 20% is merit based with the other 5% being used to pay facility fees.

The national team won't improve until proper investment is made in terms of bringing coaches of youth football up to speed with modern coaching techniques. The FA need to subsidise coaches looking to get their UEFA badges, make it more accessible for people from working class backgrounds ( you know the type of people that volunteer their time for the love of the game) who in turn impart better knowledge and understanding at grassroots level.

At the moment bringing your own players through ( at most clubs) will just see a drop in standards at first team level.
Nail on the head. They wont do it cos the FA is useless

The success of the England youth teams suggests all that is happening. England have never had such progress before. It's very easy to berate the FA for everything all the time, but the yardstick by which they can be judged is the performance of the national sides. The youth ones aren't just doing well, they are quite probably the best in the world.

Still a serious lack of UEFA licenced coaches in England in proportion to the amount of people playing football in the country.

Fantastic achievements you highlighted, think how good it could be if more kids had the benefits of proper coaching.

Not sure why everyone thinks this is bad for the league. The mooted proposal is for 66 percent of only foreign income to continue to be distributed equally while the remaining third based on league position. The foreign income was peanuts in the past and that is why it was never distributed similar to the domestic tv money for which the premiere league is lauded for. A larger percentage of domestic tv money is distributed based on position.

In la liga, the individual teams used to negotiate independently for tv rights which they are changing now. So not in any way shape or form similar. We should also not reward mediocrity and people pulling money out of their teams aka kroenke at arsenal and Ashley at newcastle just because they get a lot of money for showing up. The change is minimal and to go in line with what we already did domestically.
Why should you not get rewarded slightly more for trying harder. This deal is very much a sound one, and will not impact the competitiveness of this league but rather encourage it. Too many passengers happy to just collect.

Totally agree. Not sure why some think foreign TV income is sacrosanct and shouldn’t have 1/3 distributed on merit just as domestic TV income is. Meritocracy over mediocrity.

England also needs a decent coach at the very top too, the current incumbent is taking the first team nowhere, and that needs a more modern FA structure, with a plan.

Great that the young players are doing well, but they'll not get enough game time in the PL to push on, and even if they make it to the first team squad, they'll likely be ruined there.

Not hard to see why the 'big 6' are pushing for it after watching todays games.

The bottom 13/14 are holding on to all their money and not reinvesting it in exciting creative players/football, meaning it's a proper drag to watch their teams/games. Maybe there are a couple of exceptions, Everton tried this summer, Leicester at times play okay but the majority...

Not saying I agree with it but where the fuck is all the money going because it isn't ending up on the pitch.
