Henry Winter On Mancini

This line-up is really 4-4-2 as it contains two of the four strikers that you allude to. Balotelli was neither a midfielder or a wide man.

It's really not. The one thing that gave us was fluidity as Silva, Balotelli and Aguero would all be able to move around, so when Balotelli came in to a strikers position, Aguero could go out left. And even if Balo was a CF by trade, he would give us width out left even if it wasn't as a winger or wide midfielder. More like an old fashioned inside forward I guess.

The other factor in that team is Yaya becomes the second striker and allows us to have two midfielders behind him. This worked so well for so long I really have no idea why we changed from it. Well I do, it was because we had Tevez and Dzeko and in this system they would only really play when Aguero was injured

You make a good point in quoting 'fluidity'. That's really the key to the game. We tend to get bogged down by numerical formations when in fact the greatest teams have players throughout who are each comfortable on the ball, are able to read the game and are aware of two or three passes they can make that can stretch opponents when in possession of the ball, and who are prepared to close down opponents when the ball has been lost. Barca have shown us a beautiful way of playing the game, and I can also look back at the 1970 Brazil team which was equally talented.

When sooner or later, Mancini does go, I will be left with the lousy memory of this clown of a manager attacking one of his own players,
(not a player attacking him, as some reports said)

I have supported this club since before Mancini was born, this rates with the Barton cigar episode,... I will be glad to see the back of him.

So we win the league in possibly the most dramatic fashion possible but your abiding memory will be of some handbags at Carrington?

*sniff sniff*

A sensible article in the Daily Telegraph....

"Manchester City do not need a new manager. They just need Mancini to confront assorted issues: bonding the team more, criticising them in public less, bringing in another centre-forward, finding some width, replacing Javi García with a more commanding ball-winning central midfielder, buying a top-class left-back with a good fitness record and cutting their losses on the likes of Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko."

I personally think that Garcia will improve but otherwise, HW is spot on.
This is why he's not a manager..!!

.

He's not a manager's backside. Mickey Mouse could win stuff with the financial backing he gets. His off field record at Inter was a disaster.

With their new found financial clout, Man City can do a lot better than Mancini.
He treats his two assistants like ball boys, feeding them the odd pepermint.

I think he sees the writing on the wall, that's why he was in Italy, , before his team sat down to their dinner, maybe he was job hunting leaving the hapless Platt to face the press.

Must try harder.

Yeah
Should have kicked a boot at him

See you at Wembley burnaaaaaagggge boy
If you get there

What would you be saying if one of the team had been trashing their team mates on TV like this manager does, regularly.

I want City to win everything.

This bloke will destroy them. Only one option left out of four, with some of the best players in the world, he'll crucify them.
Two seasons is plenty, He's not good enough.
