Incredulous pace of change under Roberto Mancini

I tend not to think about the past too often as the present and the future are so bright.

Hughes was an alright manager but not good enough for where we were going basically. He is more suited to teams lacking financial backing where he can be perceived as over achieving rather than matching the expectations of senior people within the club.

Mancini is a step up in class tactically. He ensured we didn't conceed as many goals defensively and then concentrated on the attack in a methodical fashion and then implimented his tactics and playing style. He earned a standard of respect in the press that Hughes lacked prior. He worked better under pressure than Hughes ever would and he achieved results that Hughes weren't capable of at the end of the day.

There is no comparison in terms of credentials and I'm just thankful of where we are today in terms of personnel and as a club in general.

Lets not forget the biggest task he had was to build a solid backroom team , under hughes our 1st team coach was some unknown polish keeper for goodness sake ! , very impressed with the way Mancini has conducted himself throughout , barring any family issues can see him being here for quite some time and rightly so , shame on those that were calling for his head last year

Its probably fair to say no other manager would have come in and done so much as Roberto has achieved so far,and all done with class and grace.

As mentioned in another similar thread....we finished 10th 3 years ago, May 2009, 40 points behind United who were champions. We also lost as many games as relegated Newcastle.

You can't buy success, only players. The progress has been phenomenal and long may it continue.

There's no point even trying to compare Roberto and Hughes ...

... one's a stylish and handsome Italian who wins silverware everywhere he goes (especially at clubs that haven't won anything for a while), out-doing Fergie at mind-games, attracting top players and raising our image all over the globe ...

... the other's a Chelsea-supporting Welshman who's is denial that his real name is "Leslie" and whose achievements in Management are: "not quite qualifying for anything with Wales" and "not quite relegating QPR due to results elsewhere".
The only record he set at City was "most consecutive draws" and his style of play at Blackburn was criticised every week by opposing managers for being over-physical and ugly. At Fulham, he just gave up.

Sorry, but they just don't compare IMHO.
