Milner was excellent today, but in regards to the Bayern match, I actually think I'd prefer Kolarov playing left winger with Clichy at LB like we had in the second half today. He adds so much to our attacks with those deadly crosses and gives us some real steel. That being said, it was Milner who won us the game against the German rags last year!

in the only other game that I remember where kola started left ahead of clichy he did not play well and that was barca at home. I just dont think he is that good as a LW/LM, he need a player ahead of him that brings him into play

Kolarov did what was required of him,he was there to stop Dani Alves marauding down the wing which he did successfully until he was subbed after the red card for MDM. Alves then went on to score one and go close with another effort.

Jimmy was excellent today but despite his MOTM performance in Munich last season I think I'd keep him fresh for the Chelsea match.

yeah and in the return leg we played much better as a result of changing it to a proper starting XI.

Always plays well against big teams and shite against average sides.

Agree with that....struggles when we have to break through the parked bus..

Well done on today though...

Agreed about intelligence. Some of the runs he makes and his timing of passes is excellent. No surprise he links up so well with the genius that is Silva.

I thought Jimmy did well on the left in the first half.

But in the second, when he was playing in the centre, he was brilliant.

One of our best players today, IMHO.

I feel quite sorry for Milner. He's a very likeable bloke and a complete model pro. His work ethic on the pitch (and off it, for all I know) is unsurpassed. He's a great talent, works his socks off, never complains, just gets on with it. He is in many ways a midfield version of Zabba.

In most teams he'd start every week. Unfortunately for James, his best position by far is middle of the park, box to box. It's unfortunate because to get a start there with us, he has to keep Silva, Yaya, Fernandino, Nasri or Fernando out of the side. We've such competition for places there, it's really tough in him.
