Media thread 2022/23

There is a very good article in the Telegraph. It asks why music critics are no longer critical of boring, inane music. It mentions Beyonce and her latest release but importantly it mentions she has 15 million on line followers. You upset them at your peril.
More importantly it mentions how the biggest stars can make or break a music company like the NME, who need interviews from them etc.
In an online age, all media, not just music, follow the clicks and football journalist are no exception. They need the rags and dipper fans and they need the advertising revenue it brings.
Sorry, but that piece sounds like twaddle. The NME's readership (what's left of it) is far removed from Beyonce fans. There's barely any crossover. Link?

I feel that no sporting event should ever be the lead story of any news broadcaster, if that's the same thing.
Slightly different opinion from the other bloke then, he just seemed to mention women's sports, as opposed to all sports.

As a sports fan, I don't mind, news is available in many forms from the net to radio to dedicated 24-hour news channels.

think vincent might be good entertainment with his press chats this season
is it important to get a good start
we'll ive never heard a manager say lets start poor and improve

The level of questioning by the media and pundits is outrageous.
They were asking the same questions to a new manager on Talksport this morning, I was shouting the same answers as Vinny.
If they asked decent questions perhaps we would get dome decent answers.
Same with Pep, he is quite happy answering decent questions but quickly gets pissed off with those who are stupid or trying to "outwit him"

You feel woman's success should be a footnote then?

Probably why they have been screaming for equal right for years I guess.
I don't think it is related to equal rights and is a misunderstanding of what equal rights means
Equal rights means the same opportunity, and no discrimination for everyone
However in professional sport it is illogical to say women's football should have the same level of newsworthiness as mens football because far less people care. Just like the North West Counties League gets less news coverage than the Premier League - it is about interest
The WSL average attendance of the top teams was the same as a team (Macclesfield) in the NorthWest Counties League (level 9) and roughly a third that of two teams in level 5.
It is growing and this is great, the more it grows the better, but right now it is being ludicrously over exposed by the BBC purely because they have the rights to it

Nothing grows if you keep it in the dark.

Why ludicrously?

Next, you'll be telling me that if a female athlete wins gold it will be less of an achievement than a man winning a gold medal at the Olympics.

It is a World cup, not the minor south western shit men's league or whatever league you want to mention, it will be a great achievement if the England team win it, it is already a great one by reaching the final.

Have you ever thought that the woman's game clashing with the men's on Saturdays and Sundays may, just may have a slight effect on their attendance?

I am sure when it was a Summer season our ladies used to get a very good crowd to watch them.

Again though you just sound like all the other hot and bothered guys who get frustrated over fuck all.

'illogical' lol ffs fella get a grip.

edit Euro's not WC

if they doubled up where possible with the mens team as a double header it would give the womens game a bigger platform i think as although it wouldnt be a full stadium quite a few would go early to watch,
