millwall game at maine road that brought the banning of fans

I was at the game and remember this very well. There was a documentry on this(may of been donal macintyre) they bought other firms with them like Reading and Bristol is I remember right. You could see it geting heated in the ground then we scored and it went off. I was in the corner of the kippax right next to it.

You were going to go to Wolves when City were at home?

The Donal MAckintyre thing is true.

He did an undercover programme where he infiltrated Chelsea's hooligans.

He also met a lad who followed Reading and occasionally Chelsea who had joined uop with Millwall for that game. I think Mackintyre may have even travelled with them. There was some footage of City fans rioting with the police I think.

I know, I would of been about 15 and skint at the time and my mate who was working was probably paying.

What an atmosphere that day! We were struggling to break them down and then two howlers from Nigel Spink in their net (if memory serves me correctly) sent it right off!!

I actually bumped into a United lad I know outside Maine Road who had shadowed their mob from Stockport. Sad C*nt!!

i remember seeing seats flying back n forth, & seeing it on the news.
i was sat in the kippax AA lower, i was only about 11 or 12.

why ask me? ive never smashed a shop or even been involved in any type of football hooliganism, so i cant help you. im guessing they done it cus they was pissed up and was up and wanted to release some anger.

Didsbury Dave has it about right ..... although i was unaware of any later scrap with rags who had returned from Forest.

The battle inside the stadium resulted in the cavalry keeping Millwall inside the ground at the end as thousands of irate City fans massed on Claremont Road waiting for a confrontation .

The City fans were forced back up past the Sherwood pub towards Wilmslow Road by police who had dogs and others on horseback , before Millwall were let out and escorted , under heavy guard , back to town along Lloyd Street.

City fans in complete frustration started attackin' and looting businesses as they made their way to town along curry mile ......... i used to walk that way home back up to Belle Vue and i saw them do it ..... a few of them had replica shirts on , and were singin' city songs.

The subsequent crimewatch appeal was all to do with identifying fans who'd confronted each other in the North Stand , and attacked coppers ...... i think they got one City fan , and about a dozen Millwall fans after a search.

some millwall fans got proper mugged and left with fuck all. Then some of the city firm went stockport and kicked off with them.

It was millwall/reading/chelsea and even a few rangers that day

Wonder if well be allowed to take away fans if we ever play them again? They let Leeds go there so im sure theyd let us now
