millwall game at maine road that brought the banning of fans

Yes went to that. And followed all the scallywags down Claremont road. It was City fans fighting the police. Millwall marched in completely mob handed singing we laugh at Man City fans under a police escort. Basically al the feral south London lads. Glad things have moved on.
feral lads? More like 30 and 40 year olds.

Millwall brought a huge firm and got off the train at Stockport.

they had a scuffle with some Reds at Stockport station.

When they arrived in Mcr they were heavily escorted to the ground.

In the ground they threw seats and got them thrown back.

A massive City firm gathered outside after and had scuffles with the police, who succeeded in pushing them all the way back to Wilmslow Road. Millwall were kept in the grounmd then escored back down Lloyd Street.

City's lads made their way to town and smashed up some of the shops in Rusholme.

Attempts were made by both sides to meet but it never happened.

City later had a battle with United when they got back from Forest.

That's basically it.

Apart from the robbing of jewellers shops by Millwall in the afternoon.

There was footage of McIntyre hiding in a back street after the game with all the disorder cleary audible in the background, and cowering in terror he explains that the Cops are coming under sustained attack from Manchester City.

All I'm saying about that day, is the Police stopped a bloody good tear up! Spoil sports! On a serious note, they actually earned their money that day, but like a earlier poster stated, it was a lot of hand bags and gesturing, because we just couldn't get at the Fuckers! Remember a few of us having it with Utd down Tibb Street at about 9 o'clock but again the police were there in no time, so I went home. P.S I do not condone football hooliganism in any way shape or form these days :-/

I remember being in the Shier Khan restaurant on Wilmslow Road about to eat when shutters came down. Lots of banging as things were thrown at the shutters but very little else.

I remember talking to a good mate of mine who used to like a bit of fisticuffs on a match day in late 70's to mid 80's. I think I remember him saying we took Chelsea on London bridge, I may be wrong. Although I was chatting to a Chelsea fan a few years ago who said City gave it them proper, never mentioned where though. I've never gone to games looking for agro. My mate was one of about 35 or so who got nicked at Notts County away. He went down for 15 months, well known amongst our former Cool Cats n' Govoners.

Still nuts nowadays and he's in his early 50's!
Nearly got us a good hiding a few years ago when watching OT Derby, pub was full of rags. I think we may if been only blues in there. After about 8 pints or so of cider, I could see the cogs in his head going around. His nickname is nightmare for a reason. All of a sudden he blurted "right you rag c***s, any one of you says a bad word about City, I'll take the f*ckin' lot of you!" I put my arm arm around him and told him to STFU sharpish.
20 odd year old rags against a couple of middle aged blues would of been no contest, but he's still nuts, especially on derby days.

Glad that football violence is rare nowadays, no place for it at all in today's society IMO.
