Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

Been following Mike Ashley and Sports Direct taking Newcastle to court over Newcastle (and Adidas) signing an exclusivity deal with JD Sports. Ashley has tried to claim Newcastle fans are devestated but the KC for Newcastle has just pointed out the obvious fact that the relationship between the Toon Army and Ashley was wrecked years ago - no self respecting Geordie would spend their money in one of Ashley’s jumble sales. Ashley for all his wealth clearly lacks any semblance of emotional intelligence. There’s been a few deals like this kicking about but only a fool in his position would chose to challenge the Newcastle one - he could have tried Celtic - but not Rangers - because he has an exclusivity deal there - which kind of undermines his whole case !

We took back something that we’d bought for our grandson in a Sports Direct shop, and rather than a refund, we were given a credit note.

We won’t be shopping there again.

That happened to Mrs Bill recently. She bought a Nike gym top which was the right size but not a good fit so she took it back. They wouldn't refund her, only offered a voucher. They didnt have an alternative to offer in her size, but try as she might they wouldn't budge. She ended up buying a completely different item just to spend the voucher. She won't be shopping there again either. They must lose lots of potential repeat customers with that policy.

Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali was given a suspended two-month ban from football by an independent commission on Thursday after he was found to have breached the Football Association's (FA's) betting rules.

"The FA charged the midfielder with 50 breaches of FA Rule E8 for placing bets on football matches between 12 August 2023 and 12 October 2023," the FA said in a statement. The FA confirmed that Tonali admitted to having placed the bets on the matches in question

It’s the one signing he wasn’t involved in apparently
