No-one passing to Haaland.

Need to coach him to be more Kane like. Probably a slightly better finisher, but if he could hold it up, find supporting players and work deeper at times, he would be the complete forward.
no. Kane will be worse in our team. he is not going to get acres of space to turn in the middle and play the players through. Kane will be useless in our team when there are 10 defenders in front of him.

The problem isn't needing different dynamic wide players. It's that the dynamic creative players we have are told not to do anything dynamic or creative until there is a high chance it will come off. Anything less, don't risk losing the ball, play it safe. So against well set up teams, that threshold is never reached and we just pass it around sideways forever...

Seriously, even at the end, when we were running out of time, tap, tap tap.

I love Pep, he's a brilliant coach, we owe him for so much success, but the team is currently less than the sum of its parts
well they don't have the legs to counter press. that is why they are refusing to play risky passes. we need young energetic midfielders. atleast two of them.

The issue is worse than his runs nor being played in and wasted.

The deliberate manner in which his efficiency is limited by the style/tactics actually allows teams to take huge liberties.

The amount of average reams who now tske huge risks and push up against us and play a high line us a joke.

Often it is totally different than previous years when we faced teams camped on their six yard box. Now we have bog standard defences playing against the best on the shoulder striker in the world and taking the piss by pushing up towards half way again and again.

Most of these teams are not good enough to do this, especially against a top team. But they aren't punished for doing so.

They must be laughing their bollocks off. They would be punished more for doing this against the likes if West Ham or Everton, who have average strikers and average midfielders supplying them

Even more baffling is that they punished Liverpool for doing a similar, albeit not identical, thing very recently, last year Jesus and Sterling were explicitly used to punished their high.line at the Etihad and chosen on the day for that quality. It ripped them apart and they got a draw through sheer luck. So they can do it and he can tell them to do it.

Okay, not exactly the same because now we have even less players who can support the player running in behind but that is deliberate and by design too.
everton, southampton, brentford, spurs, united all did this with success. they are not afraid to leave our wingers alone and play a high line against us knowing we have no pass behind.

Is he told by Pep to stay on the shoulder of the last man? Yesterday and against Arsenal he looked so isolated. It was congested across Spurs back line and zero pockets for him to play in, one thing Aguero would do if it was like that is go deeper and drag the defenders out to create more space. Haaland for a big lad has a decent touch on him and with his strength players bounce off him, surely it would be worth him mixing it up position wise rather than making runs that no one can be arsed picking him out with. No wonder he looks pissed off.

He turns alright in very little space, plays himself into a game, rarely loses the ball, 9/10 gets a decent shot or a pass off, finds this "elusive" space, makes excellent runs....I know it's unfashionable and I do think Haaland will be excellent once we work out how and get better and motivated personnel ....but I do think Kane would be OK somehow.

well for that we need to get the ball to him. currently we cannot. he will be even less effective than Haaland currently.

Haaland is completely wasted at City. Everyone knows his strengths and everyone else would be playing to them. The man is a monster goal machine. Only at City do they completely ignore him at times. Bernie had the pass on several times yesterday but played not one. No wonder Haaland is pissed off and no wonder the rumours of a crack in his relationship with Pep are appearing. We scored just as many goals last year at this stage without Haaland and so his benefit to us is minimal. That's on Pep. He needs to earn his millions and find a solution damn quick or this season is going to fizzle out to nothing. Fortunately we still have the CL and the FA Cup to play for so it's not too late to get something out of it.

It's almost like we should not have signed him if we weren't going to play around him.

Although he has scored a shit load already.

Think the issue is that teams have worked out how to block our passes into him. But it's made easy for them by how slow our passing has been, pretty much since the WC.
They can't block passes that are over their heads...
