One thing we are missing

The 20th century is over. Let it go!

You can't get away with an angry fucker running around giving everyone a good fuckin' kicking anymore.

Are we getting nostalgic for Vinny Jones's two footed leg breakers. Ahhh the good old days! Not for me thanks.

We need a captain and a leader not a thug! Hopefully Kompany can stay fit.

Nolito is just crazy though. You can't go around sticking the nut on people. That red card against Bournemouth was ridiculous. 4 up with a few minutes to go, and he takes exception to Smith (?) holding on to him in a challenge. Then, to compound things, he should have walked again for the same thing a few games later (WBA, was it?).

Aged 25, Kante is likely to end the season with back-to-back league medals with different sides. Has six booking and no reds this season, and when you consider how much importance Guardiola places on intense pressing, it feels like we let an opportunity pass.

We don't need an thug type enforcer - I'm not convinced they ever that important anyway. They just got away with the thuggery in the past. The real asset I think was their leadership, consistency and physical presence.

We just need a central midfielder who has a physical presence to never get pushed off the ball, will never be intimidated so is consistent no matter what the opposition or the situation, has perfect timing when tackling, drives forward when he has the ball, passes exceptionally well, is vocal, knows what to say and when, etc, etc. No nonsense but still a gentleman.

Basically a cross between Yaya and Kompany at their very best. The perfect central midfield captain.

If one is out there we should spend every thing on them but I doubt one will come along in my lifetime. Makes you realize how lucky we were to have Yaya and Kompany together in their prime.
Hate to say it but that player will be pogba

Was thinking this in the Summer, his anticipation and burst of acceleration would make a huge difference to both pressing and stopping counter attacks. Questions about whether he's good enough on the ball, but he's reliable and keeps it simple and can use his acceleration to get out of tricky situations and beat players without needing loads of skill.

Fellaini's available. Anyone? The problem with the out and out thugs is that they're usually not very good footballers which leaves a hole in our tactics. There's a few exceptions, Ramos and Can especially come to mind.

Get to the stage where we're winning Champions Leagues and regularly reaching semi finals in Europe and we'll start to get protection from referees, the international audience will make too much noise if we don't.
