He wasn't alone but he was certainly at fault on the first goal: he did not come and engage Rose; gave him far too much time and space to cross the ball.
Lets face Zabba is reaching the arse end of a distinguished career for us where at times he has been superb. I think Pep now is begining to see this for himself and he needs to look closely at whether we need to start looking at fast tracking some of the youngsters. Its gonna be a long hard season especially for those full backs who have to get through a lot of work.

Bellerin
Clyne
Walker
Coleman

1 of the above is what we need.

We are Bellerin, Rose & Kroos away from being the best in England for a good few years...

Sagna should have started the last 2 games SIMPLE.

Zaba is my hero but he should only be used to give Sagna a rest.

Clichy should also be 1st
Choice imo.

Sagna. Stones Otamendi Clichy

Got to agree with you, however I still have reservations about Otamendi and his diving in. How got lucky yesterday, that yellow he got for diving in, off his feet yet again should have been his 2d yellow, he got away with that handball.

Still dont understand why we didnt have fullback at the top of our shopping list this summer....Love Zab but it was clear even before the season that he(and Kolarov) are not the answers to what Pep needs at the position. Understand we cant do everything in one summer but you could argue that a long term answer at fullback was the biggest need entering the transfer window....

It's sad to see the great man struggle as badly as he is. Son Heung-min gave him a bath out there.

Fullbacks have got to be our number one priority in the next 2 windows.

That's my back 4 too. While Sagna and Clichy are even weaker on the ball than the alternative, defensively they are much more solid. At least that's how I see it.

Agree with both of you. I think that backline sets us up to have Zaba and Aleks as the subs with Kolarov able to play either LCB or LB. We have enough quality going forward we shouldn't be picking our fullbacks based on that, it should be defending and passing. Clichy and Sagna are the best pair for what we need

Otemendi is the best of what we have. Kompany is all but finished imo & Mangala just can't play the Pep way it would be heart in mouths.

Bellerin would be the top of my shopping list & it's a must get centre half to play alongside Stones.

Agreed again. Hoping that Pep will bring through 2 'home grown' young full backs over the next few months - Zabba in particular will be moved on, as will Kolarov, unless he is perceived as valuable for his newly discovered expertise as a ball playing lcb.

It was strange playing Zaba and Kolarov away at Spurs, especially as they lack pace against Spurs' pace.

Clichy is much better on the ball than Kolarov, again something that would have helped us to bypass Spurs' initial press.

I agree completely, a popular misconception that kolorov is better on the ball than Clichy.

Kolorov only has a booming left foot which can deliver defense splitting passes and nice through balls. This is the only aspect where kolorov trumps Clichy.
Clichy can also deliver the through balls.

His lack of crossing ability is not exposed in Peps system and given time will definitely shine .

I guess we have to think that Pep's only seen Kolarov play in a handful of games and to be fair, apart from the Celtic game, he's been very good. Pep hasn't seen the utter garbage we've witnessed for 3 seasons.
