Pancreatitis

Update

Sent hope from MRI this morning. great chat with the gasto consultant.

low dose Amitriptyline (though originally a depression medication tests have found it an effective pain control drug at lower doses) to be taken everyday to negate the ongoing pain.
Buprenorphine for breakthrough pain apparently G.Ps are more likely to prescribe it than morphine (which my lads G.P understandably as an issue with)

Don't know how the OP copes, bad enough when an adult gets this terrible disease but to see your 15 year old kid go through this must be the toughest experience anyone can throw at you, very distressing.

Manage buprenorphine very, very carefully.
His bouts of breakthrough pain are probably 3-4 days a month, hopefully the Ami's will control that further. Opiates make him rough as toast and he hates them so will only have them when it gets unbearable. Hopefully the pain team get their cage rattled by the gastro, my kids luck he will get someone fresh out of college that prescribes lavender candles and wellness classes.
