Was just looking at lists that previous managers have signed for city and came across this...it's from the MEN,Hughes signings....we dint pay that for tevez?

Hughes' City signings:

Vincent Kompany - £7m
Pablo Zabaleta - £6m
Wayne Bridge - £12m (left on a free after contract expiry)
Nigel de Jong - £18m (sold to AC Milan for £5m)
Shay Given - £6m (sold to Aston Villa for £3.5m)
Craig Bellamy - £14m (left on a free)
Robinho - £32.5m (sold to AC Milan for £15m)
Shaun Wright-Phillips - £9m (sold to QPR)
Gareth Barry - £12m
Joleon Lescott - £22m
Kolo Toure - £16m (went on a free to Liverpool)
Carlos Tevez - £47m (sold to Juve for £10m)
Jo £19m - (signed for Internacional)
Tal Ben Haim £6m
Roque Santa Cruz £18m - (left at the end of his contract)
Emmanuel Adebayor £25m - (sold to Spurs for £5m)

According to Ric's recent interview - we did. And Mangala was £42m not £32m - City spun both transfers as well as lying about our interest in Bony a couple of weeks ago and claiming Lampard was on loan.

I don't think you can criticise any of our managers on transfer policies. Hughes was taking a club that had money, but no reputation in Europe and trying to take it to the CL. We had to buy those kinds of players to take us to the next level. Yes mistakes were made. Santa Cruz was never going to do much, Jo was awful, but for the most part he did very well and the likes of Barry, Lescott, Zabba, Kompany and Tevez took us to the next level.

Similarly Mancini then attracted the next tier of players, and bought some dross too. That was largely because we went from Plan A - Hazard and RVP to Plan Z - Sinclair!

Pellegrini has had to re-shuffle the squad, sell off highly paid players and try and bring in individuals under strict spending rules. I'd say he's done pretty well in general. Navas, Negredo, Fernandinho, Demichelis, Caballero, Lampard have all added something to the squad. Negredo's now been replaced with Bony.. great signing. Jovetic can still prove himself and Sagna is capable of much more. Our squad has significantly improved now and Pellegrini has done it whilst having to make tough choices on who to keep and who to sell. There's more to do but adding Bony was a great buy and in the summer we'll have to make some big decisions. He's led by the board but he has improved us.

Re: Pellegrini struggling to match Mancini's transfer hit-ra

Bob had momentum with him.
Before the 2011/2012 season, we weren't seen like a threat and were never taken realy seriously.
I believe we could have signed anyone we wanted at that time.
Since the 6-1 massacre at the swamp and the PL title, we are recognized as a real threat by the established UEFALONIAN clubs.
And this my fellow Blues, changed everything for us.
Just look at Mancini's struggle to sign first grade player since January 2012 : we missed every single target we went for.
Either the transfer fees asked for were blatant rip-off, or we have been out-played by the competition.
In the mean time, we have also now to fight with a new powerful new raising force : PSG.
With the ffp effect kickin-ing, all this makes it triple difficult for Manuel, while Bob had it easy when we were still " under the radar".

Since 2012 and from now on, any A-grade player we target is seen as a lethal weapon by and against them established Elite clubs.
To sign those will be like going for an arm-wrestling contest, and we will still have to brake the bank outrageously no matter what,
because we are City !

Re: Pellegrini struggling to match Mancini's transfer hit-ra

Mangala's transfer fee was £32m according to City -- they have been adamant about that. Any of this talk about it being higher is based solely on the financial report. None of these journalists are taking into account that there was a signing-on fee for Lampard and Sagna that would be reflected there as well I'd imagine. Additionally, there could have been delayed payments from other entities that affect the balance sheet. You can't just look at the figure and definitively say one fee is X amount. It isn't that black and white.

It doesn't exactly take a genius to see that Yaya, SIlva, and Aguero were top class players. Certainly though we have to change something this summer.

Yaya was a DM when we bought him. He became World Class at City. Silva was great but still a bench warmer for the Spanish team when we bought him. Aguero was already World Class. They all were great buys but Silva and Yaya have gotten better at City.

We bought Silva just at the right time in my opinion because both Madrid and United were after him but Madrid being Madrid they went for one of the World Cup stars of 2010 in Özil and with United I can see Fergie having second thoughts because traditionally Silva isn't a Fergie type player.

Barcelona had the best team around at that time so they didn't need him.

I reckon if we didn't sign him in that summer of 2010 we would never have got him.

Yaya was a strange one because everyone was in outrage at us paying £25m and £200k a week for a Barca utility player, what they didn't know is Mancini wanting to turn him into the player he saw at Monaco, and for me this is one of Mancini's biggest achievements as a coach because he turned Yaya from that utility player into the best box to box midfielder in Europe for a few seasons and most importantly a match winner.

Re: Pellegrini struggling to match Mancini's transfer hit-ra

I'm not too sure how many of the last few window signings can be fully attributed to Mancini or Pellegrini
There's no way Sinclair was of Mancinis choosing, how much input does Pellegrini really have in the transfers in and out?

Re: Pellegrini struggling to match Mancini's transfer hit-ra

The next season will be tough for City...............Everyone is strengthening their ranks..............and City with their Mediocre signings will not be good enough, with their core players ageing...........

In Goal we need to sell Caballero and replace him with one from EDS - probably Ian Lawlor
in Central Defence we will have to replace Demichelis and Nastasic - we can promote Denayer and Rekik
In Full Backs we need to replace Sagna and bring in a long term replacement for Zabaletta - Martin Montoya will be free transfer and good replacement
Kolarov needs to be sold and replaced by Angelino, Clichy will be first Choice - we may buy Ricardo Rodriguez if Angelino is not up to it
In Defensive Midfield we should replace one of the Ferna with Wanyama or Javi Martinez
In Central Midfield we need to find replacement for Lampard and Toure - we Must buy Pogba and Koke
In Wing we need some one with Pace and Dribbling skills- Navas needs to be Sold and replaced by one of Draxler, Reus , Volland
In Attacking Midfield we need a a Long term replacement for Silva - Isco will be a the best option
In Centre Forward - we are good however Jovetic is injury prone and Dzeko is inconsistent so we need to replace one of them with Lacazette

Tbh even if we did pay that much for Tevez, the size of the transfer fees for Jo and especially Tal ben Haim are far more worrying.

Why? he is more than decent back up
in Central Defence we will have to replace Demichelis and Nastasic - we can promote Denayer and Rekik
No, we need a proper third choice CB. Pepe, Miranda etc
In Full Backs we need to replace Sagna and bring in a long term replacement for Zabaletta - Martin Montoya will be free transfer and good replacement
LOL at another Sagna hater.
Kolarov needs to be sold and replaced by Angelino, Clichy will be first Choice - we may buy Ricardo Rodriguez if Angelino is not up to it
agreed although too soon for Angelino IMO
In Defensive Midfield we should replace one of the Ferna with Wanyama or Javi Martinez
No. we simply need to get either Pogba or Koke. we dont even need to sell Yaya unless we want 2 CMs. Javi Martinez - Bayern + ACL
In Central Midfield we need to find replacement for Lampard and Toure - we Must buy Pogba and Koke
same as above
In Wing we need some one with Pace and Dribbling skills- Navas needs to be Sold and replaced by one of Draxler, Reus , Volland
true, but only one worthy among those is Reus. Isco/Bale might be available.
In Attacking Midfield we need a a Long term replacement for Silva - Isco will be a the best option
Same as above, but I much prefer we use EDs. loads of AM talents
In Centre Forward - we are good however Jovetic is injury prone and Dzeko is inconsistent so we need to replace one of them with Lacazette
agreed, actually see both of them being sold
