Player topic: Jesus Navas (2014/15)

Seeing how Hazard finished when one on one with DeGea shows the difference - if we had scored a second when Navas was clean through last week who knows? Jesus always hits the ball too hard rather than slide it past an onrushing keeper. Not that you can compare him directly with a player worth 40 million plus but it shows the fine margins and why Chelsea - who I think have not exactly played well in many games - will win the league.

It's not fair to compare Navas to Hazard. The price paid for Navas was for a squad player which we have gotten. If we want world class players, we need to pay the price... something we've failed to do for the past few seasons.

Some of our fans have silly expectations of a squad player. Comparing Navas to the likely player of the season? That just sounds silly.

Why I said it is hard to compare - It's just that even at the 15 million pound level a little more composure is needed when one on one. For him to have not scored a league goal all season is quite frankly not good enough for an attacking wide man. I actually like his work rate and he certainly helps the full back yet, at the top table 5 goals a season is a minimum from a winger. And he has played a lot more than just a squad man this year. correct me if I am wrong, but when we bought him we knew that he doesn't score and he had 0 goals in his last la liga season

A fairly typical performance. Brilliant attitude and workrate - key to us pressing them higher up the pitch. And always poses such a threat on the counter. But just lacks quality - at least twice we should have scored on the break but were let down by a bad pass of his. And continues to specialise in making wrong choices in wide areas and slamming crosses against the first defenders shins. Frustrating.

Even on a fantastic outing, folks are still trying not to give him credit. Dude was fantastic, his poor back pass notwithstanding.

Teams seat back against us and dare us to break them down, our best bet is to pressure them high and turn them over for a quick strike when they are disorganized. To that effect Navas is our best front line player at achieving that. Better than Milner or Aguero or Silva or Yaya or Nasri at doing that.

He put at least 5 passes/ crosses straight to foot today. Pin point passes. Was quick to every ball. Created both goals, would have created a third if Nasri had taken the proper angle.

He was fantastic today. Great role player.
