Five of us are staying at the Lindner Hotel Am Michel in St. Pauli.

Booked it on <a class="postlink" href="http://www.eurobookings.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.eurobookings.com</a> They were over 300 hotels available when I last checked on there.

2min away from my home, good choice! :)

Dont miss the "Großneumarkt" next to the Michel(Church). There are a lot of restaurants (La Locanda - italien - best Pizza in town) and pubs, for example the irish pub.
4 min away is the "Heiligen Geistfeld" (between your hotel and Reeperbahn), where you can find one of the biggest fun fair in germany at this time.

Reeperbahn is about 10-20min away by foot, depends on your alcohol level... ;)

Actually the discrit isnt "St.Pauli". It's "Neustadt" ("New City") but pretty much next to St.Pauli. Neustadt is one of the oldest discricts in Hamburg. A lot of pretty old houses are next to the hotel with the typical small lodes like in the past.
One of the most wanted disctrict in Hamburg...
Cheers for that. It was a choice between there and a place in St. Georg. Sounds like we chose the right one!!

There is no "choice" between St.Georg and Neustadt. ;) The distance from St.Georg to the centre (The centre in Hamburg is the Alster(big lake) with the shopping area) is almost the same like from Neustadt, but its on the east side of the centre and everything good is on the west side.

Besides St.Georg is a bit scummy(not too bad).

Congrats! You will enjoy it :)

Hotel Stern is a decent cheap hotel for anybody looking.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.stern-hamburg.de/contact.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.stern-hamburg.de/contact.aspx</a>

Website isn't in English but if you call ahead you could get someone who speaks the lingo to help out :-)
Booked this hotel through Asda site £25 per night and right where you want to be.

Reeperbahn is very average lots of bars & retaurants, you do get perstered by the girls on the street near the London pub,a mooch through the red doors is worth a look, something for everyone ;-)
Decent Irish bar finnigans wake is just behind the Townhall (Rathaus)
Marriot hotel near Alster is decent, lots of restaurants around the Alster lake area,Alex bar on the lake is a popular hang out.
Movenpick Water Tower is a good hotel, with the undergroud about 100yds away and a good selection of hotels and pubs around Sternschanze (studentsville)
The stadium's nearest railway station is Stellingen. It's on the S3 & S21 lines of the Hamburg S-Bahn. A free bus shuttle service is provided during soccer matches from the Stellingen train station to the stadium. There are several big car parks around the stadium. The Autobahn 7 is close to the stadium and the stadium can be reached via the exit Stellingen, if traveling by car from the centre to the stadium allow plenty of time as the A7 is very unpredictable and often comes to a complete standstill around rush hour.

Just want to let you know, that due to good friday the pubs etc will turn down the music at midnight, 2:00 the latest. Also expect some spots to be closed (e.g. Casino, Spring Fun Fair).

Don't miss "Laufhaus" on the Reeperbahn ;-)
