Yeah he was a funny player...
I remember going to watch Manchester Boys and City Youth, coached by Ken Barnes back then, when he was playing for them... I'm sure they had a name other than Man City though but for the life of me can't remember it... Anyone? Or am I remembering that bit wrong...
Anyway, Palmer was playing aged about 16, so I'd be about 10/11... I vividly remember him having a shocker in the first half and my Dad commenting this to one of the coaches. He said wait til the second half and see if he gets any chances... Sure enough he ended up scoring a hat-trick!
Great goal scorer at all levels... A Legend at Oldham... I went to Boundary park today with relatives... Oh dear! Now that's football in the raw boys. We're in a different dimension altogether!
