    I understand that but in official records it's always just "Aguero" if he scores etc

    Whereas it's always 'Rony Lopes' as if that's his actual name.

    It's not really a nickname in the way that we have in England though, it's become his actual name that everyone calls him. As for why it's always his nickname and his surname when he scores, it's probably because in Portugal you'll frequently get a lot of players with the same last name so it's much more customary to use first and last name.
