The old mobile phone question

lol. you are supposed to hang up after each call.

I was working away from home at the time, using it for work and to call home etc, and it was my first contract. Got the shock of my life when the first months bill came in at £75. It didn't get much better after that. I fucked it off after about 4 months because I'd got one from work and was allowed to make personal calls on it as long as I paid for them. That still used to cost me about £30 a month.
These days I get 1000 minutes per month, 5000 texts and 1275mb of data. I use about 20 minutes and less than 20 texts, but I do burn through the data.

1275mb of data? You do know how to drive a hard bargain.

Don't know if OP decided on a phone, but (if he doesn't have one
of these already), maybe this?

Do you remember the Nokia 3310?

You know the phone - the one which featured iconic game Snake, allowed you to have the best monophonic ringtone in the charts right now, and had about a month-long battery life.
Well, it's set to make a dramatic comeback
Nokia have confirmed they are set to re-launch the 3310 later this year.

The model is famous for its reliability and resilience.

It is perhaps the most iconic model in history.
Initially release in 2000, the Nokia 3310 sparked the modern age of mobile phones.

And, according to reports, the new incarnation of the old 3310 will be sold for just €59.

It will be revealed at Mobile World Congress later this month, according to leaker Evan Blass who first revealed the details.

Microsoft first bought Nokia's mobile phone business in 2014 for $7.17 billion.

However the tech giant was forced to sell the iconic brand last year amid declining sales of feature phones, almost wiping out the entire value of the deal.

HMD Global Oy signed a strategic partnership with Nokia Technologies in May, granting sole use of the brand and patent licensing over the next 10 years.

*Anyone still use/prefer these to 'smart phones'?
Hipsters & Drug dealers will be delighted

best phone ever. no films, web or owt but a very very good phone.

Yes it was and it had infra red connect-ability! (that little window on top ).
My first bill was over £100 so I somehow managed to fuck it off back to Carphone Warehouse and it was the biggest relief of my life. But I loved the phone.

I steered clear of mobiles till this thing came out and my mate told me they could be chipped so you never had to pay again. Like a dick head when I got it chipped I only had £1.22 credit on it so every 4 minutes my call would cut off and i'd have to ring back. I should've put a tenner on it first because it reset your credit after each call.

Bumped this thread because I'm looking for a new phone for my mum.
She has a button phone now but has trouble seeing the letters to text. Plus she'll have to upgrade soon anyway as her current phone is 3G and that's almost certainl going to be shut down soon. So I need a small 4G smart phone.
I found one on a site called laptopsdirect.co.uk. Anyone had any dealings with them?
Any tips on a small (5" screen) mobiles?

I assume she's had/you've looked at Doro phones?

I've been very happy with my last 2 Oppo phones.
I got the Reno z about 6 months ago and I'm extremely happy with it.
It cost about 250 pounds in English money, has a 6.5 inch OLED screen and brilliant camera. Ultra fast charging and the battery lasts me easily a day.
I agree that the Moto phones are good but I don't think you can beat Oppo for value.

I do practically everything on my phone these days hardly ever touch my laptop.
I watch movies YouTube videos read books surf the web I'm not even typing this I'm just speaking it.

If you don't want to pay Samsung or iPhone money I thoroughly recommend Oppo.
