How many points will be needed to win the league?

I don't think there's any obvious result or run of results that Arsenal can point to this season unlike last year's collapse from them. I seem to remember they had a bit of a shaky autumn with the assumption they would be stronger in the run-in. Beating your immediate rival at home and drawing away is a good result, however you dice it.

I think some of the narratives forming now are really about framing. City's incredible form has been massively understated by the press and rival fans, who have been gobbling up shite about us not being what we were and Haaland being shit and all the rest. And Arsenal's form has been overstated by the same people, who have been busy crowning players as best in the world despite getting dumped out of all the major cups again and not having done a thing in Europe.

So now those world views are coming into contact with the reality of league table. You've got Arsenal fans, in the press and online, having tantrums about how unfair it all is, and drawing parallels to Liverpool's 97 point season when, as like last year, if they were anywhere near that they'd have already won the league.

City will most likely win out from here. Our job is to take them to the last game of the season and after the 'bottling' of last season that will show great progress and demand respect. Then we can build from there.

Last season City were better in all departments (defence, midfield and attack). Now we have overtaken City in one (defence - albeit watch Gvardiol turn into an absolute monster in the years ahead) and have closed the gap in the others, although a gap does remain still.

We have a young nucleus of excellent players who aren't going anywhere and we can add to it. I suspect we will be City's main challengers for at least the next 4 or 5 seasons, possibly along with Chelsea. It's for sure a damn sight better than fighting for 4th place which is where we were up to a couple of seasons ago.
How have you over taken us at anything? We have played 5 more games than Arsenal this season, yet we have only conceded 3 more goals.
For all the hullabaloo that Arsenal have been better than City this season, when you actually look at the stats, City have been far better.
Arsenal have lost 10 out of 50 games. City have lost 4 in 55. We keep on hearing how City have not been good this season. Yet, when you actually analyse the record, we have been simply stunning. To follow up last season with this, is amazing. Yet instead of getting any praise, all we hear are negatives.

You'll batter them, they are shit at the back. Bernardo vs whoever they have replacing Udogie at left back will be horrific. They'll play a high line and KDB will just play balls over their back 4 through to Haaland.

If you're dropping points it's at Fulham not Spurs, but I don't think you're dropping points regardless.
A lot of City fans are mentally scarred by Spurs as a result of the amount of defeats in really big games down the years. For older types, it goes all the way back to the 1981 FA Cup final and then the QF in 1993. Then more recently, the game that decided CL qualification in 2010 (would have been first time ever for either club) and the CL QF in 2019. Added to all that is our terrible record at the new stadium prior to this season’s FA Cup tie.
I totally agree that we should win comfortably there but old habits die hard!

When someone says this title race is boring what they mean is either 1) the team I support from Stretford used to win the Premier League, but now we are shit or 2) the team I support has imploded again and our outgoing manager has someone else's teeth.

This title race has been fascinating and it's not over yet. And it's not a done deal that MCFC will be champions. Will go to the last day. In fact, every single title race that we've been involved in (including ‘68, can't speak for ‘37, wasn't born, calling @Gary James) has been like that, with the single exception of 2017-18.
It is just pure bad faith. Not just from Trafford Park supporters, but also from that feral crowd from just south of Stanley Park in Liverpool. They never found it boring when they won it time after time for two full decades, with occasional one-season breaks off. Did they hell find it boring.
You want to talk boring? Celtic and Rangers, who have shared the Scottish title between them since virtually forever; Bayern Munich amassing 11 — that's eleven! — titles on the trot; Real Madrid and Barcelona (read as for Scottish league); Juventus winning 9 — that's nine! — titles on the trot. PSG who will carry on winning the French league for the foreseeable future.
And we may win four on the trot?
Just sheer bad faith.

us not being what we were

Ah but we're not just casually pocketing another treble, you know. And that's failure

It's weird but we are now held to standards that we ourselves have created. Haaland going to win the Golden Boot hands down, but it's been a “poor” season, because he didn't score north of fifty! What the actual fuck?

Last season didn’t go to the last day. Nor did 2020-21.
