Tosin Adarabioyo

There's no agenda, it's a fucking opinion on a professional football player. Why can I have an opinion in the main forum but not on here.

Nobody in their right mind would look at City's kids who have played recently, especially Tosin, & start writing them off.

And it's so easy for any fucker to just say 'I was right' when a kid doesn't immediately make it. Some are even doing that with kids who are out on loan now.

Tosin might lose his way or get injured or lose his bottle like Boyata.

But for anyone to look at a player with Tosin's attributes at his age & just write him off, indicates they are either a complete fucking cluless idiot or have an agenda

Nobody anywhere who watches football would do that at this stage, not even a rag.

Don't be fucking ridiculous.

Do you think James Horsefield or Billy O'Brien will be first team players? I don't, but there's no agenda there, just a fucking opinion like mine with Tosin.

In my opinion Tosin's attributes are he's big. I don't think he's a good defender and he cannot pass the ball therefore in MY OPINION he won't be a first team player and is overhyped.

As easy as it is to say "I was right" on a kid just like you put it, it's just as easy to say this kid will be a star based on nothing more than hope.

So don't come back to me and say I'm a rag or I have an agenda and take it for what it is, an OPINION.

I await your answer on Horsfield and O'Brien, let's not be hypocritical now eh?

Interesting last few pages of this thread. With Adarabioyo there is a bit of over-hyping to me due to his international recognition at youth level (which is basically an indication that you are a good junior than your a nailed on international star in the making) and being born and bred in Manchester. Like all City fans, I'd like to see a couple of Mancunian's in the first team squad. You saw that with the threads earlier this year making a case of George Evans to be given a chance (I thought he'd be a better bet than Fernando too!). I like Tosin as a prospect but I don't rate him in the bracket of being a future City captain quite yet. He's a long long way to go to get to there.

The opposite opinion that hes just the EDS flavor of the month and will fizzle out isn't the wildest of suggestions as its bound to happen more often than not with our young players. I'd be surprised if 10% of them get to play in meaningful first team games and then if 1 in 4 of those become regulars for us.

Tosin has dropped lucky a bit this summer with none of our senior central defenders being available from the first day of pre season so he's been able to take part in all the training sessions, had the most time to pick up the systems, etc, and you can see that when he's played in friendly's and in the CL because he's usually in the right positions and alert to whats going on around him. He can spot the dangers well. When you watch him in the first team though as opposed to the EDS or the U18's, his inexperience really sticks out, much much more than a perceived lack of ability. Yes hes played some questionable passes resulting in chances and goals in pre season but which young defender hasn't? Yes he let a long ball bounce on Wednesday that he shouldn't have done on Wednesday but what young defender hasn't? I think he looks quite comfortable playing with the ball and his head certainly doesn't go down after an error. I think he's also a strong 1-1 defender and isn't easily beaten for pace. Pep clearly sees potential in him to have kept him around the first team into the season.

The bottom line is he's one of many of our young players that have mastered youth football and need to be tested with first team football pronto. Players like him and Maffeo, based on Wednesday, are crying out for first team football. Coming into our team for the odd dead rubber here and there isn't good enough for his development to me. He needs to be playing week in and week out now and I hope he gets a good loan either before the end of the transfer window or in January

Finally a decent post on the subject, I don't agree with you but that is your opinion and I can respect that.

+1

You are already getting your excuses out when he wont make it as a first team player.

According to you lot it won't be because he wasn't good enough it will be because of other factors that happen.

Fact is you are all going on about him being the next Kompany, if that doesn't turn out to be correct then it's because he wasn't good enough and nothing more.

That is until Edward Francis comes along and then Tosin will be forgotten about.

I've never said he's the next Kompany. And I'm sure as soon as Francis comes through you'll be writing him off too.

Many have I.e next City captain.

I've seen Francis play twice, he's a good player for his age. If he plays first team football and I don't see what he has then I will give my opinion.

The difference is, Tosin is quite clearly currently miles better & a very promising young player to anyone who knows hs arse from his elbow or doesn't have an agenda.

And Horsefield is better than some current Premier League players were at the same age so no guarantee he won't make it there if he has a bit of luck.

Tosin is one of the best prospects we have ever had at that age. All the others played in the Prem or Div 1 as it was.

To write him off at this stage is fucking ridiculous.

I agree with your points on Tosin and I think he's the best defensive prospect we've had in a long, long time.

However, I've highlighted your comment above and have to say that you're one of the main culprits of this. I enjoy reading your match reports to keep up to date with scores, etc, but one could be forgiven for thinking that our U16s/U18s team is full of world class talent ready to take up 1st team places - based on the hyperboles and superlatives you use for each performance.

There's definitely a grey area with upcoming talent and you can never completely be right with every player, or earmark every single one as a future star. Therefore it's better to be patient with them all (including the likes of Brahim, Sancho, etc) and see what our manager does with them as they mature.

It's all relative. At this level, they are marvellous prospects that play vastly better football than more or less every team they play, but it then depends on what they do for the next level, or whether a manager uses them. They are that good and im not exaggerating, but their development is intrinsically linked with what the first team manager then does. There countless players who could be very, very useful and potential stars if given a chance. I stand by that.
