Who will we turn to if nothing goes to plan?

More than possible wont get all our top targets (given the fight for them vs rich clubs), really important to have great plan B options as well.

Hopefully Txiki can deliver, he has good contacts, this summer will really show what he is about when it comes to transfers.

We need our top targets ... One more shit window and we could be fighting for 4th spot in the PL... We need to improve our 1st 11 this summer, simple as that ....

Methinks you under estimate the strength of our current squad. Our EPL and EUFA rivals are very aware.

All the media froth about an ageing team fails to recognise that the late FFP restrictions imposed on buying players and squad size also meant players planned to leave may have had to stay and so maybe not the best motivated. Also Juve has not done so bad this year with an "older team".

Can anyone believe that progression and contIngency plans are not in place? In the circumstances, Performance as Premier League Champions runners up may be judged ok because it shouldnt compromise our commercial activity.

Now that City appear to have complied with FFP but the criteria are under review, the media are running puff stories that ManU and others are to trump signings of any City targets. They are swimming against the tide of the growing popularity of Manchester City. I would expect any declarations of interests by City and exploratory negotiations would have been done months ago, all under confidentiality agreements so nothing is leaked to the media, as is the practice nowdays. City do not operate through the media.

Let us see what the summer brings.

.

You mean the old "So and so set to snub Man City" stories? The same ones they wrote about Tevez and the rest?

With Lampard, Micah, Jovetic, Milner, Yaya, Boyata, Sinclair and maybe others all leaving the club this summer, who do we buy if Pogba goes to PSG? De Bruyne goes to Bayern? Sterling goes to Arsenal?

If our players are replaced with Crocks like Wilshere, and Jay Rodriguez - This is nothing more than a step backward.

Based on all our transfers under Pellegrini and the Chief Exec's, I can't help but think we won't get our main targets.

This window will either be spectacular or depressing.

Feckin window hasn't opened yet.

Tolm has given us some positive vibes
We are no longer overly constrained financially
We have several world class players already
We have won two of the last three league titles
We are not a tin pot outfit and we can match the best
We can guarantee Europen Football

One more:

We "might" have one of the world's best managers already signed up.

Who is richer than us? Maybe we have to go toe to toe with the big clubs of Europe but there are many reasons young world class or potentially world class players might prefer city. Ask Aguero and Bale.

Well said.

If none of Pogba, De Bruyne, Sterling, Robben, Gundogan or any of the top players we've been linked to work out then we shouldn't buy second-rate players who will barely improve our squad like we did in 2012 (with Rodwell, Sinclair etc).

We should promote internally (three or four of Denayer, Rekik, Lopes, Pozo and Iheanacho) and hold on to the players we would otherwise have sold (Dzeko, Nasri, Navas etc). The worst case scenario would be selling players without any plan for how to adequately replace them.

Barton Tiote and Huddlestone may all be available after the end of season to replace Yaya. If we want someone a bit more dynamic with a shot on him we could try prising Charlie Adam away from Stoke though he would be a bit pricier.
Barton would have the advantage of being club trained.
