Stoke post match thread

Tonight reminds me of the league cup against the rags. Crap selection, no motivation, pep clearly prioritising CL and fa cup and the players feeding off that vibe.

Let's wait and see if he's proritising the FA Cup. I'm a bit worried that the couple of changes we saw tonight will be nowt to what we might see on Saturday

For the first time in many years I wished I had stayed at home and kept warm tonight!! Hughes came for a draw and we gave him one, the ref was rubbish once again. How many more times are we going to be done over by a referee?

That was like watching paint dry. It was dreadful. How many changes do we need to make? I read somewhere that Ranieri was called the Tinkerman, well I think we have our very own Tinkerman in Guardiola. The last time I looked the stats up he had made over 80 changes.

We really need to win on Saturday now, because we have very little chance of the Champions League and tonight we said a definite goodbye to the Premier League title. Yes I know that it was a slight chance but there was a chance but I can't see it happening now. So the only real chance of silverware is the FA Cup. IMHO

Absolutely. I sincerely believe that Pep is more than likely giving the FA Cup and the CL his priority. We were poor last night but we have to be admit that we are more than likely to win the FA Cup than either of the other two competitions.

Well you can bugger of me old flower. ;)
Seriously I couldn`t make the game tonight but one and all in my Local tonight were all of the same opinion ... the FA Cup is our best chance of silverware.Thats not to say we want that as a minimum, but we have to be realistic.
One of those nights but we probably didn`t deserve much more than a point.
Top three and I`ll be more than happy.
Next year with a whole new defence, who can also attack ... watch out champions Chelsea.
Shall I put my tin hat one petal ?? ;)

Seriously I couldn

*lol* you couldn???? You couldn't care less if I am watching paint dry? You couldn't care less if I never turn up again? You couldn't see that coming? You couldn't make it up? Or, you couldn't finish the word or the sentence because you gave up as I did tonight? ;-)

Or could it be that you have had a drink and needed to rush away to go to the bathroom???? ;-)

We might get beat by Monaco, but I don't think there is much between City, Bayern, Barca, Real Madrid etc.

Absolutely. We werent going to win the premier league anyway, Chelsea are. Thats just a fact anyway. Pointless getting mardy about tonight in that sense, Im more pissed off that the bland obnoxious arms folded no marks that is Mark Fucking Hughes came to our place with a plan and it played out perfectly. We should have had enough to break down Stoke at home but it didnt happen. The focus of our club leaders is on the champions league, make no mistake about that.

HIC !! No pet in all honesty me and the boy couldn`t make the game (only 2nd league game missed this season) but we have to be honest and say we were poor.We could have played until this time tomorrow and not scored just a game when we too many players having an off night.

I don`t like to harbour the point but we were poor tonight and some of our better players were very poor.Just a bad day at the office.I have said this for a few months but Chelsea are miles ahead of us in some wonderful counter attacking football, with such pace and superb off the ball displays. At times we are fairly slow but then you look at some of goals and you think why can`t we be more consistent ?
The Pep man will get it right, off that I am certain.

From what I've seen we may be able to beat them in a 1 off game over 90 minutes but over 2 legs, that's well beyond this group.

If we cannot break down Stoke, Athletico would murder us

Chelsea aren't all that and at times that type of football becomes just as tedious, especially as Stoke's game plan was to frustrate. It was a night where our creative players were either on the bench, struggling for form or have been given a rest. The only positive is we still created a few half chances but failed to clinically dispatch them.

No.

I disagree with your opinion. I haven't once made it personal. You refer to me as a so called fan.

I've been a season ticket holder since 98.

Last time I communicate with you on this board.

Trust me, there are some right tosspots on here. As you have now found out.

Nonsense. You cant compare at all in that way. Stoke came tonight to play anti-football with the full encouragement of Mark Fucking Hughes to do so. The more negative they were, the better. European football, at knock out stage, is totally different. Its tactical in all the opposite ways that Stoke were tonight. Stoke are not concerned about points and if we are totally honest (as a club and those who run it) it didnt matter tonight if we won or not, for we are not going to win the league and everyone knows it. Top 3 is the priority there, and will happen. 2 leg Euro games are an entirely different animal

You guys do realize about 13 of your 26 players are 30 or over the age of 30 right? Playing 2-3 games a week is asking a lot from them and this was bound to happen + you have no depth in the team. Sterling and Silva were being played down to the ground it was clear Sterling need a little rest from his last performances, as good as Silva is he's 31 and needs a game to rest as well not to mention you have 5 games from Sunderland to Liverpool in the span of 14 days. This season was always going to be transitional period, Pep has already showed a glimpse of what he can do and whats to come, there is a reason why everyone gets the hint that he may stay longer because he knows it'll take time, he won't be able to achieve everything in 3 years.

Relax a little.

Fuck, yeah! Period

Some you win, some you lose, some you get bored to death by Mark Hughes special brand of anti football. To be fair, we dicked them in their own backyard so you can hardly blame him for setting up defensively, and they did it well last night.

I am curious as to what team do you support. You say " 13 of YOUR 26 " players...............

Stoke got it right to nullify the wings and try and counter. Is odd that with Kev, Yaya and Ferny in the midfield, most of passes from them, the majority went back to the back four. The game was crying out for Silva to move and create space in the Stoke midfield from as early as the 10th minute.

would have feared Stoke more if Crouch had played. He's a bit of a bogey player aganist us, so knowing he wasnt playing just told me that Stoke came for a draw and hope to sneak a goal. And for the majority of the game, we created knowing threatening through the middle until Dave came on.
