Aye, but you need to put it in context of the whole uk situation.

Unless you have been wrapped up in a bag on top of your wardrobe, then you may have noticed the last ten years for everybody hasn't been too great.

We have a bigger economy that most small nations doing ok. And none of them have oil. But, because we like mars bar suppers a drink and the odd punch up we wouldn't manage it?

GERS produce an estimate based on data provided by Westminster, it's not the Scottish Government's data.

It's all manipulated to make the Scottish figures look worse than they are, it's a CONSPIRACY!!....

Maybe not, but their reliability is bit dubious. The two economies are so interlinked, difficult to extricate the exact figures.
 
That would be the GERS that the snp were quoting in 2013/14...suddenly not accurate because they dont like the recent figures.

The last Independence White paper cites the GERS figures on 15 occasions and used them as the basis for the economic case for independence.

Yes, it's the best that's available, it doesn't mean it's right though and most of it is not their data, it's collected by the Office for National Statistics, HMRC amongst others.

It's also pretty irrelevant for an independent Scotland because things will change so much.

Yeah i didn't read the white paper (mainly because i couldn't vote at the time anyway), it's like the UK stating what they want from Brexit in that white paper, doesn't really matter because we won't get what's in it. But I suppose you have to produce one for people and if the GERS is what you have it's what you use. It is flawed though.

Yeah i didn't read the white paper (mainly because i couldn't vote at the time anyway), it's like the UK stating what they want from Brexit in that white paper, doesn't really matter because we won't get what's in it. 2013 john swinney quoted gers figures and described them as "independent figures". Angus robertson and peter wishart also quoted gers in a positive light in 2012-2014. Cant have it both ways and decent people now see through the snp,only the braveheart types are in denial....sorry,indynial. Its clear there would have to be huge cuts in an indy scotland. Did someone mention austerity?
