Chelsea (a) post match thread

I agree. Some of his team selection this season has been close to madness. At Burnley away I called him a fraud. Some mard ****s on here didn't like it but I didn't give a fuck I was right. You simply cannot rotate in the prem. It'll come back and bite you. Let's hope he wakes up and smell a the coffee.

That's what I don't get, Pep was supposed to be the manager to bring fight, make us better than the sum. However now it's turned to shit he's blameless, it's all the players fault.

We are nowhere near the best team. We have some of the best players butb a team we are not.

These comments about best team by a mile are just fucking ludicrous aren't they. Defending is part of being a team. Rolling your sleeves up and fighting for everything is part of being a team. This team is soft as shit, none more so than De Bruyne.

Nowt to do with pep first off...

Its the same old faces who are slowing the game up(silva), the same striker playing mostly with his head down, same lack of self belief from the established wingers/fullbacks(training must be the same 1 drill over and over), same lack of any kind of ability to nutmeg/wrongfoot etc(other than perhaps sane), same lack of urgency, same lack of anything unpredictable, same lack of willingness to play direct instead of pulling back and moving the ball square again and again...could go on.

Slow, unimaginative, and painfully predictable. The squad needs world class additions that already have a winning mentality. Let me ask a serious question here...which players other than yaya and tevez(long gone) have arrived from top european teams used to dominating week in week out? Really struggling to think of any here...this summer window needs to be the one where a few players(like isco)arrive from some of the very best clubs in the world. As i think adding young kids to the situation(unless of gabriel jesus quality) is not going to help with this mentality situation.

World class marque signings or pep will struggle again next season...calling that now and i'm willing to bet money.

Wont even mention the defense at this point.

Said this time and time again. The other big clubs will go for the world class additions and we need to be right in there. Forget bloody Uruguay and let's concentrate on getting this club sorted.

We were easily the better side, gave away 2 sloppy goals but we deserved at least a draw, sums up the season really.

Delph and Kompany were welcome returns to the squad.
They too gave away a sloppy goal and they won, not sure how we were better side.

Losing tonight has again been self-inflicted by Pep. Starting Delph and Navas ahead of a fully fit Yaya Toure and Sterling, who were left on the bench and have been 2 of our most consistent players this season, was ridiculous. Playing Fernandinho at right-back against Hazard cost us dear and his mistakes causedboth goals tonight- he is a brilliant defensive midfielder, a £30m one at that, and needs to be playing there and only there. Bringing Kompany back tonight was the right call by why on earth play him as the left-sided centre-back where he has never played in his career, in his first game back when Stones is equally comfortable with either foot, that was just bonkers!!
Despite us losing, Pep then waited 80 minutes to make a substitution and brought on Sterling for De Bruyne, who had possibly been our best player on the night, and left Navas, by far our worst player on the night, on the field. To then add insult to injury, three minutes later he brought on Nolito, who has not scored since 10th December, for Sane, currently our most dangerous player and main goal threat, with 8 goals in his last 14 appearances from a wide position, yet still kept on Navas, who has not scored for over 3 seasons- absolutely bonkers!!!. I'm starting to think Pep is completely out of his depth in English football and we are not even going to finish in the top 4- Arsenal are now only 4 points behind with a game in hand and always finish the season strongly. Right now, Pep is a complete liability with his crazy decision-making every game. I challenge any City fan to justify some of his decisions tonight and in the rest of this season. The facts are we have taken 3 points out of the last 12 and this has been our worst season in 6 years. We are going backwards under Pep right now....
Didn't watch it did you pal?

I am a paying supporter and see the bigger picture contrary to your dribble

Fantastic, because it's obviously an inevitably that the bigger picture will be sky blue. We haven't looked like solving our problems on the pitch for 3 years now.

And the cycle of how our season has gone, isn't inaccurate considering all those things have regularly happened and instead of a title race, were locked in a battle for 4th for the 2nd season running.

^ agree.
Look at our bench tonight...only sterling could've made a difference. Our squads shit so im not surprised we are where we are right now.

This summer we have to spend big to challenge for the title...can't wait till the deadwood leave this summer.

its amazing that others dont realize this....i mean we are fucking playing navas at right back because we have NO ONE else to play there, chelsea are loaded with talent

No movement off the ball
Players know they won't be here next year
Old knackered squad
Fault management over the last few years and the last two, have been fucking crap management from the top down, who have no idea about British football

Why does best manager in the world take forever to make a change and impact the game? Kdb and Silva should never play together .

Not too much wrong with him tonight, can't pin our failings on him this time.

But they've scored more than we have, conceded less than we have and sit 14 points ahead of us. And have you watched some of the dull sideways backwards shit that has sleptwalked us to 1 point or a loss many times this season?

When you're winning, your team is functional and you're top of the league - your supporters are happy, and if you think the style isn't "mind blowing" you tend to not give much of a flying.

Personally I'd rather watch entertaining football rather than go a goal up and park the bus. I genuinely thought we played well tonight but of course same mistakes cost us again.

Chelsea the superior team and will be well deserved champions.

Showed today how to do the less glamorous side of the game brilliantly and in this league that goes a very long way towards winning titles.

Great to see Kompany play so well and get through a full game.
No way were Chelsea the superior side mate, they just did what you need to do, to win titles and that is to win by any means necessary, nothing more, nothing less. No-one will remember them for this season apart from being ruthlessly efficient when it counted.

As for City, we were fuckin brilliant overall, aside from a deflected goal and a fortunate penalty rebound going in. We beat them in every other department apart from the all important goal count, so Chelsea win. I thought Delph was immense, as was Kompany, Fernandinho and Clichy who dominated the midfield tonight. My hopes for this season was for automatic CL qualification which we can still achieve. After where we've been over the last few seasons, we'd be foolish to think that even the great Pep Guardiola could win such a strong PL in his first season even if we all hoped and prayed he would.

This summers transfer window will begin the transformation from Bob's City to Pep's, as we all know the likes of Yaya, Clichy, Zabaleta and Sagna are coming to the end of their careers, & Kompany, Silva and Fernandinho etc are entering the twilight of theirs. We totally dominated the champions elect tonight who did just what was needed to cling onto victory.

This is a part of our game that Pep will have to manage better because he's no longer in a 2 team league. I think Pep's professional pride will drive him on to want to succeed and we've still got the FA Cup semi's and CL qualification to achieve before the rebuilding job starts in earnest ready for next season. I feel strangely lifted by that performance tonight, if equally deflated by the result. As long as we get automatic qualification for the CL, I'll see it as job done for this season and if we manage to win the FA Cup too, it won't feel anything like a failed season for me, but more like us setting everything up nicely for next season.

I can see the green shoots of Pep's Master Plan coming through, and I for one believe he's the man to take us to the next level.

Except around 2010-2012 when we had scored the most goals directly from corners. Oh those days a corner was worth getting mildly excited over.

You are right we put in outswingers and looked good. Historically be usually failed to beat the front man. Of late we actually launch it into the box but never convert.

Don't even think some people watched this game, Chelsea being the better side? Don't make me laugh. Even defensively the game wasn't that bad aside from the PK which was on Dinho, but aside from that just like Arsenal, Chelsea were there for the taking, but the flopping up front cost them the game.
I thought City did well up to a point. But CFC just wanted to protect the result. They didn't take any risks. 1st half we played really well, but then CFC changed tactics and just protected the game. We need to replace Aguero. It's impossible to create chances with a forward who is so slow

Penalty was stupid by Ferna and came at a bad time as we were opening them up.....Matic for Zouma closed the door more...niggly fouling player for me but gets a job done...we ran out of ideas in the end but still could have scored two in the last minutes. I thought we played some decent stuff but Chelsea were not going to do anything other than hold what they had at 2-1. Gotta just focus on consolidating 4th now and winning the FA Cup.
