The same argument is deemed non applicable when applied to Hart.

Noticed how no one is being linked to Hart? How the only offers to take him on loan came from Sunderland and Torino?

I love Joe but the complete lack of options he had speaks volumes. If a world class keeper came on the market, dozens of teams would be knocking the door down.

You're now sarcastically calling him 'the unmentionable one' but what your above statement says to me is simply that some people don't talk about Hart and you don't think the others should either. He's an important part of our history, was our number one less than a year ago and is still currently our player so what's your problem?

No problem with Hart, or mentioning Hart, it was sarcasm you were bang on about that.

I've even mentioned another goalkeeper between then and now but you've either not seen it or are choosing to ignore it.

Ah yes you mentioned one after the post I quoted, if only I had the ability to see into the future when I clicked reply.

Let's not make this another Joe thing, everything that can be said about that has been said and it's all rather repetitive. I didn't even want to put the bracketed part because I knew someone would take it as a dig when it wasn't intended as one at all. I think he's a better shot stopper, it's as simple as that.

So you were making it a Joe Hart thing after all and repeated the good old mantra that he can't pass a football, you certainly can't get more repetitive than that.

For clarification I misread your first post and didn't actually realise you meant Hart and thought you meant any keeper that was a good shot stopper would be poorer with his feet, but it seemed after all that it was just another dig at Hart when nobody had bloody mentioned him at all :/

20:01 - I mention Ederson

20:29 - You post your comment

With or without the Ederson comment, that's 28 minutes to realise that your comment was a ridiculous presumption in the first place.

So you were making it a Joe Hart thing

No I wasn't at all, you currently are. It was part of a counterpoint to someone else's view that a better shot stopper would save the fewer shots we face. The point that I was making is that a goalkeeper who can retain possession and utilise his time on the ball effectively is someone who benefits the team, often contributing to them facing fewer shots.

Do you know why I said that? Because it was the natural progression of the conversation at the time. Deal with it.

The Hart, wanted or not wanted is a different debate

Are we able to support Bravo at a time when he needs it most without demeaning Joe Hart? Joe put in wonderful match winning, and many could argue title winning, performances during his stay. But Bravo is City's choice now. If he regains his confidence, people who have seen what he's done in his recent history (obviously before his arrival at the Club) know he is capable of doing the same. More so with the manager City has now. Why must one succeed at the expense of the other?

But you sign a player as he is at the time you sign him.

If we signed Neuer but he turned to shite when he arrived, would it have been a mistake to buy him?
Yes. The intention would be good but if, for whatever reason he turned out to be crap then it would be a mistake. Using your logic it was right to sign Bony.

I am not part of the Hart cheer squad and felt we needed an upgrade to push us on. A world class keeper. The powers that be thought likewise and went and got Bravo. 17m plus salary of circa 100k per week. In addition, we are still paying 50-60k for hart to play for someone else.

We have pages of comment on Bravo, because he has not performed to expectations and has not been an upgrade.

Those that want to defend him talk about distribution, new style and what other managers/players think of him in order to justify the decision.

I've said it previously. My wife who does not really watch football called it in his first game against Man Utd. I tried to focus on other attributes to his game and give him time. I think others may still be in that boat.

But c'mon. He has been atrocious at one of the fundamentals of his job. Keeping the ball out of his net. He has soft hands and is incredibly slow to react (not going to get any better at 34+). He is appalling at 1v1 and is a liability at judging crosses into the box.

It's the equivalent of buying the best striker in the EPL over a 12mth period who holds up the ball really well and has strength but just can't seem to do what ultimately he was purchased to do and that's score goals for us. Some make the call early, others focus on system, confidence, other attributes that he brings to the team. At the end of the day, a mistake for us.

Bravo has been a mistake and and has not been the "worldy" we thought we were getting.

My dad said there were audible groans when the ball went back to bravo for the second time in that move...ball was in the net 40 seconds later.

Some people just don't get it and don't want to get it.
I hear moan groans when we play backwards much further up the field. in fact I'm one of them. we get a free kick on the half way line and invariably play it side ways or backwards. Ray Wilkins would look a world beater in our side. funny though not heard one moan when it goes across the back line in an out of bravo's feet. that tells me the fans accept the style of play, in fact applaud it. now try and catch the ****.

If you're groaning when the ball goes back from further up the pitch then you aren't accepting or the style of play.

Maybe Hart could spend the sum learning to pass the ball 10 yards, then he would fit the bill.
It's not about passing 10 yards it's about seeing a pass playing intstinctively under pressure. Cattermole can pass 10 yards he can't play like David Silva. Hart will never fit the bill even if he tried for 10 summers.

wait a minute. what about Pep's famed attack policy? why not do it whilst er attacking? he plays on the front foot in defence and the back foot attacking. make your mind up gaffer. I know, lets try it my way. defend properly then see where it gets us up front, you never know we may win a title .... or two.

anyway going off topic.

carry on.

Right Pep, now we have you signed up what we want is you to scrap your whole philosophy and do things our way.

er sort of. adapt to the country you are playing in might be my advice. like I have just said though that's another debate.

get a keeper that can actually keep goal, a couple of full backs and the myth might just be restored.

Myth? All them trophies I've seen him win over the past decade are just a figment of my imagination?

Apparently none of that will work here, it's different here in Germany and Spain or in Champions league there aren't any teams that press or work hard or defend and counter attack, that only happens in England that's why English teams dominate all those foreign teams in European competition.
