It's Quiet - a new dawn

You would both happily drop Jesus. Unbelievable.
IT'S NOT DROPPING for fuck sake. If we do sign Mbappé, he'd cost a bomb and expect to play. Jesus and he would rotate for the ST position should Sergio leave.
If I had put Sané-Jesus-Sterling, it would be mad because we'd have "dropped" our record signing.
or If I had "dropped" Sané or Sterling you'd still have been on my back.

Fact is it's a squad game and strength in depth is something we've flattered to deceive with in recent years.

Walker is a Micah Richards hybrid, you'll get 2/3 max years out of him in a pep team, especially on the back of the two he's just had with Spurs, we won't be going anywhere near him, thankfully... that's not because I've been told but because he's 27 in May and the money we'd have to pay, measured against return, doesn't add up....

Walker also struggles from playing out from the back, more so than any of the other defensive line. Now if it's for a wing back role, fine, however, it's a stretch that we'll buy just to facilitate that...

The perfect player is fabinho and the one I personally think we'll get!!!

Fabinho has told his suitors he isn't interested in being played as a FB. United have told him via Mendes that he'll be Carrick's replacement and Pogba's partner in that midfield. I think he's going there mate unless we suddenly have a change of heart and promise him he'll only be a CM.

During the season there will be plenty of injuries which will mean youngsters get plenty of opportunities on the bench.
The main point of my post was however not the one you chose to comment on.

The "youth players" part of your post was just the one I felt the need to comment on because you could say exactly the same this season, and they didn't get a sniff against the senior players who are being kicked to the curb in 6 weeks time, they won't get a chance against the new recruits.

The issue with Fabinho is we can't get all of Monaco's players. Nor will they sell all of them. So if taking Walker over Fabinho allows us to move for Mendy, Silva or Mbappe, that makes sense to me.

hahaha I love the its quiet thread ,names mentioned, people get excited start putting teams and formations down, someone disagrees ,arguments start, want to know more and more names, speculate about what positions pep will play them in.

seems so desperate , people just chill, what will happen will happen .

it wont be long before the tolmie/billy is fucking useless posts start happening and its not even the end of the season.

cant wait for big Dave Watson to post on here, now that poster is class

will be fucking gutted if fabinho turns up at the swamp!!

The fact that Pep wants players who can play in a number of positions, the fact that we want a CM anyway and Pep wants a right back to effectively play in midfield should mean he'd be perfect. Sadly once Mendes is involved United will be favourites. We don't seem as keen to throw a few bones his way as others.

He'd be wasted at the rags, Jose's parked bus doesn't suit a player like Fabinho in the slightest.

We need a central/defensive midfielder and he would be perfect for the role, though perhaps we have another candidate in mind. Even if Yaya gets a year's extension, he's not the long term option we need and we can't go into the season hoping Gundogan will magically stay fit for it's duration.

You and me both mate.

Come on @Big Dave Watson

I think it's time we all got our priorities straight... our whole back line is pretty much getting replaced next year, talk of Mbappe et al is fanciful (imo).. signings like that point towards the mythical messi money stashed away in professor plumbs boardroom... also, Fabinho will be cheaper than walker!!!

Remember we had this conversation back in September regarding Laporte, more so on his buy out and them letting him go.... just wait on these one, see what transpires

As for his declaration, reminds me of the god that is James Milner... money talks fella!!!

I hope you remember I changed my mind when it came to light his buyout clause is only £50m now and not £65m for another 2 years.

I do remember your absolute denial of Pogba going to the rags though last summer.

Also Milne joined a club and manager who agreed to play him CM, only a managerial change meant going to LB so unless you think Pep is heading somewhere I don't think it will wash.

----------------Ederson
Fabinho Kompany Stones Kolasinac
--------------Gundogan
Sterling De Bruyne Silva Sané
Aguero

Bravo, Kolarov, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Navas, Roberts, Jesus
.
If we lined up like this on opening day next season I think I'd be happy with it. It's not unrealistic at least.
Decent team and will probably make top 4 if there are no injuries. add Coman or Sanchez to challenge or bench one of the wide starters and add a midfielder to challenge the middle 3. Youri Tielemans or Tollisco.

And the perhaps I'm okay with it. But as it stands, that team is 1 injury away from 6th.

Walker is the best RB in the league I just think everyone hates him because...well he's a massive knob. Also at 27 for the inevitable 50m or whatever it will cost and the painful experience of dealing with Levy...it's just hard to get excited.

Also I'm concerned at the idea Walker is not seen as vital to Pochettino. He knows the player better than anyone and if he saying it's time to get rid, I'm not sure we should go charging in.

Where did you get the idea that Pochettino might have said that it's time to get rid of Walker? Nothing could be further from the truth.

I understand that a lot of City fans might have higher expectations for a right back signing than Walker. But they needn't worry. Because the chances of Spurs selling Walker at all - let alone to a Premier League rival - are bordering on zero.

Money does talk. And I reckon for over 12 months now United have been throwing far more of it around behind the scenes than we have. Hence I don't hold out much hope of us signing anyone who's got Mendes in their ear. ;)

Oh fucking brilliant the Spurs fan has popped his head up.

Not coming from Monaco and being a Mendes boy he won't. Monaco are expecting to be Football's Black Friday this Summer, and will take anyone knocking on the door to the cleaners.

The only thing pissing me off about buying Walker is it seems Spurs are happy to let Walker move as they have a great little deputy. I wonder where he came from?

Well that is as conflicting as it gets, as I've been told that spot (CM) at the rags is already sewn up, nailed even, so if he is going there then it's a strange twist.... the strength of the coach will be at play this summer, personally, even though it's Mendez in the advisory role, it's fabinhos dad who pulls the strings (apparently)...

We'll see I guess!

I guarantee you walker will go for more than Fabinho, should he move!!
