It's Quiet - a new dawn

At the time I remember one of his reasons for staying at Bilbao was because they had shown loyalty to him through his ankle injury so signed a new contract with a higher release as a sort of thankyou

This has always been my presumption. I imagine it would be hard for a 22 year old to commit to a new club and country while going through a serious injury recovery.

Forget all the figures we have previously heard or read.

It's a whole new ball game.

Finally got one!! We usually spend a fair chunk of money the new ball game is fact we aren't going to spend a penny, Valdes in goal pepe, kolasinac and Ali kaldirim to sort out the back, Adam, Lucas and havertz in the mid and up top Fernando Torres sorted for the next few seasons!

I think there's gonna be some disappointed blumooners knocking around come the end of the transfer window myself. No doubt there'll be plenty of huffing and puffing from those trying to make things happen and we'll be linked with every top player in Europe, but when it comes down to it we'll give players who should be long gone new contracts and find ourselves kicking off next season pretty much as we are now.

Not sure why you feel this will be the case. We won't offer contracts to every old player (we know for a fact a number of them are out the door) and even if we did that doesn't stop us from bringing in world class talent.

Last summer we brought in two players who would arguably be desired by every big side in Europe in Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane. We also got Barcelona and Chile's number 1 and England's most promising play-making central defender in an age.

Even another window on that level, and I think most here expect even more, would be amazing given the foundation laid already.

The underlying point you're making though is that ultimately we'll fail to acquire most of our transfer targets, which doesn't seem likely at all. City have the financial clout, the promise of trophies/success and of course Pep Guardiola, all of which is a serious lure for any player in the game. The Laportes are the exceptions.

We'll soon find out won't we. Until then I'll leave it to others to get all giddy about spending hundreds of millions.

Probably, but dont forget we may also recoup 150 - 200m in sales.

Wouldn't go that high but we may get to 100 million. We can only get there if someone comes in with a stupid figure for Kun.

It's interesting that Toure, the full backs, and by the sounds of things Willy, aren't getting new deals. If they all go, which is looks like they will, then I suspect we may have to go as high as 300 million gross this summer. Certainly between 200 - 300 million with my bet being it'll be closer to the 300 million mark. It's certainly doable if we bring in anything like 100 million in sales.

You get the feeling that there'll be nothing left to chance next season. So in terms of incoming players I expect it'll be the biggest summer we've had since the take over.

why do you think we wont be spending a lot mate?
We probably will spend a few quid. Hopefully in positions that desperately require it, but it seems most of the budget is being earmarked for forwards reading this place and I can't say I agree that's needed.

I think that someone like mbappe only comes if Sergio leaves? sanchez is a a player who can play x amount of positions but apart from that and maybe a DM then it all seems defenders and a goal keeper? no way the club aren't going to arm pep with everything he needs the best they can as I`m sure the owner and khaldoon aren't exactly happy witht this season.

In terms of sales, you've got Mangala, Bony, Nasri, Hart and Fernando to sell. There's about £85m there, plus over £550k off the wage bill. Add to that a potential £75m sale of Aguero, as well as freeing up over 450k off the wage books with the contracts of Zaba, Sagna, Clichy and Yaya then things certainly start to look very promising.

My prediction of who we want:

Gk - Ederson
CB - Laporte/Van Dijk/Bonucci/Rudiger..............i hope it's either Laporte or Van Dijk.
LB - Sandro or Gaya/Kolasinac
RB - Walker/Semedo
CM - Tielemans
FW - Sanchez

6 players for 200m+.

Can't see us signing more than 6 major players.

Not much will happen early this summer IMO. Too many clubs looking to buy at the very top end so fees are inflated.

I remember watching that inside city documentary a while ago where txiki stated that they work a transfer window in advance? and pep done his interview with bailey in abu dhabi and pep said plans were already well under way? would hope we weren't going to drag our feet this summer.
