It's Quiet - a new dawn

I see the guessing game is well and truly up and running then,I think this,I think that, where deep down nobody as a fucking clue whose gonna stay,go or come in

Not much will happen early this summer IMO. Too many clubs looking to buy at the very top end so fees are inflated.
Fees will stay inflated all summer though , but apart from the confederation cup there is nothing on to stop players negotiating, I expect most to be done before pre season this year, as it's one of the few summers Pep can do a full proper pre season with all his squad.

I remember watching that inside city documentary a while ago where txiki stated that they work a transfer window in advance? and pep done his interview with bailey in abu dhabi and pep said plans were already well under way? would hope we weren't going to drag our feet this summer.

It's not about dragging our feet. We'll already know what our priorities are in each position and we'll already know how interested those players are in coming. The reality is though that they're all top players coming from clubs who'll want loads of money. So there will be some negotiating/haggling to be done and that will take time. It'll be the same everywhere though. I don't see anyone flying out the traps and buying 3/4 big players early doors.

Maybe. I've just heard from a few people now that privately agents/clubs are saying it's going to be a long drawn out summer.

In terms of sales, you've got Mangala, Bony, Nasri, Hart and Fernando to sell. There's about £85m there, plus over £550k off the wage bill. Add to that a potential £75m sale of Aguero, as well as freeing up over 450k off the wage books with the contracts of Zaba, Sagna, Clichy and Yaya then things certainly start to look very promising.

We could get a 100 million for that lot. Along with the space on the wage bill that leaves you can see why the club may be prepared to go big in terms of the amount they spend.

What do you think about Nelson Semedo ?

Here's what I think in general. City can't take risks this summer in key positions, and full back is a key position. If you go buy some young kind from Portugal and it goes tits up you're fucked (think Mangala/Otamendi). On that basis I can't get behind a player like Semedo coming in for what will be a stupid fee, when for the same stupid fee I can get the best full back in the league (Walker).

Well most people can only guess as they aren't involved in the club and have no idea who's coming or going. There's the odd one who likes the attention and will blag they have insider knowledge and the likes of Tolmie who legitimately hears bits and pieces but let's face it, the transfer forum is mainly a car crash.

Difficult to release all those players, without guaranteed replacements.

At the same time, it's unlikely City will be as forthcoming on ridiculously lucrative contracts as when they first came in.

Continuing to keep deadwood as stop-gap squad fillers isn't wise in the long run either. This planning/development should have happened long ago, and I have no doubt there are questions in Abu Dhabi why it didn't, but now we are in the situation we have to go for broke.

If we only have Pep for two more seasons, though I think most believe he will extend, another season of relying on Clichy and Willy, or even the likes of Yaya, is shooting ourselves in the foot.

We've got about half of a potentially world class side right now, if the club ever intend to finish the job then the time is now.

While we've got you, what do you think about talk in MD (picked up by other media, somewhat backed up by Sammy_Goal and alluded to by tolm) of City working on a potentially world record breaking signing right now?

Yup,totally agree, when Tolm does a tease,it is great fun,but even he has been proven wrong on a few occasions, never the less it does make entertaining reading for the summer, but it has started way early this time, but the blag is pointing so much at the obvious positions that we all know need to sort out,and it is frankly amusing to see the fantasy football brigade out in force.

You look,it soon turns out to be who they'd fancy, not evidence of serious interest,it's all as you say,a blag, guesswork to the highest degree.

If your a club that dont need the money you can afford to wait till last week of the transfer window to sell there players so I'm looking at months before we buy any high class players.

I think it's more than likely bollocks. Not to say that City might not be working on a big deal, especially if they are going sell Aguero - but the way it was worded that story just sounded like fantasy to me.

Really want aguero to go to China where we can potentially get a world record fee for him I mean if costa is worth 80m to them imagine how much aguero would be worth with him being 10x more marketable.

If the Chinese are willing to pay Kun 600k plus per week then that would surely be more than tempting......and then Mbappe arrives....?
