Does anyone know when Gundogan is coming back though?
Why ,because Alexis agent went to Vidal birthday party .Looks like Alexis has snubbed us again and decided to join Bayern.
So do we have any back up planned?
I like the idea, only 2 small complaints:Based on rumors, what I think would be best:
Ederson
Bravo
Muric
Walker
Kompany
Stones
VVD
Kolarov
Sandro
Semedo
Silva
Yaya
De bruyne
Gundogan
Fabinho
Fernandinho
Sterling
Sane
Aguero
Jesus
Roberts
Sanchez
We are looking at about 220m net spend here. Yet this squad is ready to compete on all fronts. Walker, VVD can slot right in. Both among the best in the league in their positions. Sandro, world class. Semedo as a back up for both RB and LB. We would have a strong CB group, able to play 3 at the back as well. VVD is a leader and captain at his club so we don't lose that if Kompany isn't playing. A great midfield with Gundogan coming back from injury and adding Fabinho for DM along with giving Yaya a new deal. An absolutely stunning attack with one of the best attackers in the league in Sanchez coming in, along with Roberts coming back after impressing on loan. Enough games to keep everyone fit and fresh and little to no drop in quality when rotating.
This squad has everything for me. Solid no nonsense defense, quality in midfield and firepower in attack. Game changers ready to come on from the bench if needed.
Kolorov can play backup LB as well.
Pep has used them somewhat differently tho when Kolorov did play LB, He tended to use Kolorov a little further back, almost acting like a CB (on the left) who pushed up and center to make a killer pass....The fact he couldn't get ahead of Clichy this season suggests otherwise.

Whether he is a good enough back up I'm not sure (maybe not), but I really don't think Semedo would come in as a backup LB/RB to Sandro and Walker. I think it'd be smarter to either promote Duhaney as the backup to LB/RB, or buy a younger fullback prospect who is around 20 and much cheaper. Semedo being 23 probably wants to play week in and week out.
Edit: And Maffeo as back up as well
I like the idea, only 2 small complaints:
1. Walker and Semedo? Two RBs is redundant when we have Fernandinho and Fabinho who could also slot it in a jam, and Maffeo as a possible back up as well. Semedo won't be brought in as a back up and Kolorov can play backup LB as well.
2. What happened to Aleix Garcia? So sad...
Fair enough, but I don't see Semedo coming in as backup LB/RB. No way we can convince him of that, we would have to trick him into thinking he gets regular minutes. I still think this is better:I feel we need Semedo because he can play back up for both LB and RB. Not many players can do that. Semedo is probably stronger than both Dinho and Fabinho at RB and definitely stronger than Kolarov at LB and he would still get a lot of games for us. I would rather we play a back 3 against a top team than watch Kolarov getting targeted all game at LB.
With Girona looking likely for promotion, I think we could send a few players there. Maffeo is already holding down the RB spot for them which is great, he should continue there for another season at least. Garcia would also be a great option to send there. Its clear both are not ready for the first team yet. I could realistically see Maffeo and Garcia plus one more youngster, get a lot of games for Girona. Lets not forget both are only 19 years old. How many 19-20 year olds are playing for the big clubs competing for trophies such as the Premier League and Champions League? Probably zero. Gabriel Jesus is a one off. Ideally they spend 2 years at Girona keep them up, learn a lot playing against some of the best teams in the world and then come back and play important roles in our squads. Patience is key.
Still don't like the word
People change their minds,we never know the reasonsSo are you saying we weren't snubbed because its a word you don't like?

LB: Starter --> rotate every now and then with a younger player
RB: Starter --> rotate every now and then with a younger player
I think Duhaney from the academy has the attacking qualities to be a good rotation option, OR we buy a young prospect from somewhere else. Much easier to convince someone that costs like 10-15 million to be a backup than a player who goes for like 35-40 million as a backup.
Hmm the Game 1,2,3 is very similar to something I posted about Sane, Sterling and Roberts rotating in two positions lol. I like it, except you don't need the back 3 part, just go Game 1,2,4. Each player plays 2 games in a row, then 1 game off.I see where you are coming from. Think Semedo would still get regular minutes, not a "starter" but still maybe 30 games in all competitions given Pep's rotation. For example
Game 1: Sandro/Walker
Game 2: Sandro/Semedo
Game 3: Back 3
Game 4: Semedo/Walker
I think we should definitely buy Sessegnon he would be available for a decent price and is a wonderful prospect. My main issue with having a younger player as a back up is what happens when we get this run of games for example
Wednesday: Juve (A) CL
Saturday: Chelsea (H) PL
Tuesday: Napoli (H) CL
Saturday: Everton (A) PL
All crucial games, can we really depend on a young player at LB/RB in one of those games. Its a massive risk, what if Hazard destroys him and we lose/draw the game. Points dropped and the youngster loses a lot confidence that will be difficult to repair.
Hahaha. So are you saying we weren't snubbed because its a word you don't like?

Honestly, if we get all 3 of those players I'd be ecstatic, I didn't want to come off as not wanting them, just wondering about the feesibility of the club rationalizing the purchases. I think it could work if they can convince Semedo like this "We don't have 2 starters and 1 backup, we have 3 players rotating in 2 spots, all 3 players will play more than enough games to be happy". Hopefully the other two players will be okay with Semedo getting like 30 games (taking around 15 games off each of them).
I don't like the word either but half suspect that the snub theory is wrong.........simply Arsenal won't sell to us!So are you saying we weren't snubbed because its a word you don't like?
I must be on my own thinking we should go for Barkley.
There's an extremely good player in there gone stale at a club that's done nothing to help him improve, with managers that have failed to nurture the talent he has. Koeman possibly could but I wouldn't blame Ross for thinking he needs a change.
With a manager like Pep and a player like David around him every day, it could be the making of the lad. Worth the risk ten fold even if it's just to replace Delph or Fernando.
I'd rather take the risk it ends in tears than watch him flourish somewhere else for what will probably be a decent price given his contract situation.
We couldn't be in a group with Napoli and Juventus. But I take the pointI see where you are coming from. Think Semedo would still get regular minutes, not a "starter" but still maybe 30 games in all competitions given Pep's rotation. For example
