I suspect they were hoping for an FA cup win and trying to catch him on the feel good bounce of that to sign. Wenger was making a big play for Sanchez after the final whistle grabbing him by the head and probably saying something like... "see we are close to the top PL teams and you can win trophies if you stay".

I think Sanchez's performances of late have been about showcasing his talent and workrate for potential suitors; I don't think he is at all interested in a new deal at le arse

I must have been watching an imposter for the last two months of last season there was a guy who looked remarkably like Vinnie playing better with each game looking like a very solid defender , can we sign him instead I assume he was a loan player?

He has been amazing which is a blessing and a curse. We have to bank on him not being here. For me we sign a 1st choice CB and have Stones, Otamendi, Tosin that way we are in a good position for when the inevitable happens

The last 10 games say Kompany may not yet be done. He's no age for a centre back if his injury worries are in the past.

On the subject of CB's, assuming we can't find anyone daft enough to take AK, then for me the ideal solution is to sell Nico back to Spain for decent money and then purchase someone of the quality of Bonucci or VVD.

That way we go with Vince, Stones, AK, Tosin and the new guy - meaning that if/when we are without Vince then it shouldn't be as horrific as it was this year, and when Vince is fit he can be alongside the new guy with Stones rotated out and AK on the bench covering left back as well as centre.

I think Pep will wrap Kompany up in cotton wool. I believe Kompany will be used sparingly in the big must win games. Maybe against lower opposition we can get by without him purely on the number of goals the new attack will bring. Did the same thing with Puyol at Barca and got a further three to four seasons out of him.

I don't know and neither do you , neither of us has seen his medical reports we don't know the likelihood of recurrence or how long it will take.
What we do know is that after a long spell of recurrent problems he has managed a longer injury free spell than he has done for two years. Whether with sensible management this could mean that he could play a large number of games in a season or not is something we don't know.
We also know that since our first premier title winning season this is the first season where we have not had many injuries of the muscle strain type so it is quite possible that we have a better general training and medical environment than anytime since Mancini decided to get rid of our club doctor.
