It's Quiet - a new dawn

I don't think we can afford to get rid of Delph as we need him for the home grown quota. I don't think he's up to playing in midfield for us under Guardiola, he doesn't have the intelligence in his passing.

I do think he has all of the tools to play left back though. Left foot, fast, decent enough technically, aggressive, likes getting forward.

If Guardiola can coach Kolarov in to being a half decent centre half in 6 weeks I see no reason he couldn't coach Delph in to being a decent left back option against lower quality teams at home.

Delph's biggest problem is he's never fucking fit. It doesn't really matter what role we imagine for him if he's either recovering from or suffering from an injury every week.

Pep was full of praise for him when he did actually get on the pitch.

if our squad consists of Fernandinho and Toure being the only two non-attacking central midfielders in the squad we will struggle for silverware. Fabinho, or someone of his ilk (I still think Nzonzi would be a perfect fit) is just as important as new fullbacks, IMO.

+1 ;)

You've been on the kid Timperley's Facebook page haven't you mate?

I have, but no idea if his information is good. Seems a genuine guy who cares about his page so my instinct tells me he is passing it on in good faith. However, everyone knows transfers have lots of twists and turns and this one does not seem to make sense.

Patrick Roberts: "I want to play every week and enjoy playing football, like I did when I was a kid. If I can do that I will be happy.

Guess he won't be sitting on the bench, so either another loan or will be sold.

GK - Ederson/Bravo/Gunn

RB - Walker/Fabinho/Fdinho
CB - Kompany/Nico/Stones/Aleks/Tosin
LB - Mendy/Aleks

DM - Fabinho/Gundo/Yaya/Fdinho
CM -Silva/KDB/Gundo/B.Silva/Dinho/Delph

RW - Bernardo/Jesus/Sterling
CFs - Aguero/Jesus
LW - Sane/Sterling

This is what I'm expecting for next season really. Another CB is a possibility but can't see Alexis or Mbappe coming in. Would say the above squad is enough for a domestic double, and Champions League quarters or even SFs with the luck of the draw.

Another guy on twitter also said that he received a message that we're negotiating with barca for neymar.

All the talk of midfielders and no mention of Garcia, who I think is capable of taking a squad place from what we have seen.

I think the Yaya 1 year determines this and if he signs Garcia goes on loan, with the idea he replaces him the following year.

There is room for Fabinho if Yaya's role becomes that of Fernando's and it is possibly this that Yaya is considering (the reduced playing time as opposed to the finances).

This season we have had Yaya, Ferndinho, Fernando and Delph. Is it unreasonable to say we would have Fabinho, Ferndinho and Yaya. Especially as we could go in with only 1 senior right back.

Not sure any of the kids will make it with us to be honest. Kelechi, Roberts, Unal will all be sold this summer, Garcia loaned and probably sold next summer. Maffeo won't make our squad next season either. Denayer no chance, Tosin no chance. It's clear this transfer window we are almost exclusively buying 22/23 year olds... pretty much ending the City careers of several Academy graduates.

Don't believe all the media just because United rested players and the youth players did well that!our academy is a waste of time. I think ultimately the academy will provide some players which will become part of the first team squad (but 1 every year would be way above the norm). The club have talked long and invested a lot in the academy and if we buy as mooted then you would see Moreno and Garcia having a year long loan in the PL with an option opening in our squad the year after.

I think Tosin must have been promised some game time to renew.

I know it sounds hard mate but I dont have an issue with this...I think the Academy is a big part of the business model and getting a good return for the investment is also very important. If that isnt as a 1st team squad member, then selling players at a profit is the next best thing. I think we've got a solid talent level in the academy but I dont think "good" is enough for what Pep wants....these kids have to almost be world class to get into the first team. The only reason why we are buying 22-23 years olds would suggest that Pep feels there is still a big gap between the current academy players and what he is looking for.

we will never have an academy player playing for the first team then. other then a few players in world football, there are barely any 16/17/18 year olds who are world class.

fair comment mate...but I think we could include "potential" in this as well...Until Pep feels there is long term "potential" to be world class, we will keep buying 22-23years olds from around the world and keep getting good offers from other teams for our academy players...
