You'd have to be an idiot to launch a nuclear attack against a state that has nuclear weapons if you know they'd retaliate in kind. You can have an opinion about whether you'd ever use them, so can I, so can the next man, but for someone who's potentially going to be Prime Minister to say publicly that he wouldn't renders our deterrent useless and is a spectacularly stupid thing to do.

I just watched Boris behave like a political dinosaur - in the event of victory May needs to ditch him before 11 days are up. The EU just don't take that buffoon seriously

I'd like to see May's response to the threat of nuclear war. Would she fire a weapon killing millions? Not sure those insisting Corbyn should do that have thought it through.

We aren't saying he should do it I know I probably wouldn't
We are saying he should say that he would. I think it is you that needs to think it through

Nukes just have more connection due to his CND days and anti-war comments of days gone by. Would a pacifist PM use a nuke? That's a sign of weakness to quite of lot of people and they want reassurance before putting him in a position where such a scenario could still theoretically happen where he would directly influence it.

It's also a question that could equally be answered with a lie which is mental and why the hypothetical scenario is so daft.

However, I think almost everyone can agree on there being far bigger issues than nuclear war/retaliations etc...

None who have nukes, fortunately (well, aside from NK but you've already seen the international outrage, hence why the debate is flaring up again). That said i'm wondering what the response would be in a "Sum of all Fears" situation, where no 'nation' is accountable.

if you recall Call Me Dave dodged the question before GE 2015. When asked was he happy to press the button to launch mass murder he replied that labour under Red Ed wouldn't commit to renew.

Fact is to say you would marks you out as a nut job who would be prepared to breach the UN Nuclear Non-Proliferation agreement and basically flag yourself up as a potential war criminal - telling everyone you are happy to be a potential mass murderer is never a vote winner
