And unfortunately most of those top CL teams play in leagues that are frankly a lot less demanding; technically better than the stokes of this world, but a lot less physically demanding

I'm sure some of the bottom sides in LA Liga have the mind set of "no chance we can win" against Barca and Real so they just roll over and not give a fuck, similar to United of old.

£200k is probably what his wage would workout at should we win the quadruple.

Don't get hung up on media shite, remember we ruin football and have a smaller wage bill than the rags who all okay for the love of the shirt having been born in Salford/Stretford.

A saints fan who i work with says that one of the reasons Fonte left, was that they guaranteed VVD the captancy if he stayed, but this was before his injury.

Doubt this would be enough to make him stay there when some of the biggest clubs in England want him and are prepared to treble his salary

I don't actually care what we spend on him, as long as it doesn't mean we miss out on other transfer targets that's fine.

Would rather overpay than miss out on a top quality consistent CB.

If we can keep Kompany fit like we have imagine him and VVD at CB.

He's already dealt strong with Bernardo Silva, Madrid paid £20m more for an inferior player from Monaco in James Rodriguez. That was a few years back and look at transfer prices since.
I can't remember if he signed before or after World Cup but James was a hot property at that time.

Odds have been slashed on SkyBet to 1/2, making City the new favourites.

He would be my first choice CB (ahead of Bonucci). He is very quick for a CB, making us more resilient to the counterattack.

He also won't get thrown around like a rag doll, by Costa and the like.
