Putin also had it right on Syria. Support Assad, no matter how awful he is, as the alternative is far worse.
Yet Boris Johnson is so blinded by the agenda to get rid of Assad he's called for boots on the ground in Syria before now.

I personally thought us supporting Assad may be the way forward with assurances he'd step aside after the war and we could keep heavy checks on whats needed. I guess it says something that nobody in Govt even begins to ponder this.

Labour and especially Jeremy Corbyn keeping us safer....do me a favour. This is a guy that wanted to enter into negotiations when the Argies invaded the Falklands.

The 20,000 officers is not a commitment to security on the part of Labour it's simply the creation of 20,000 jobs. Much like Labour did when they created the plastic PCSO's

There is no way that the terrible atrocities we have seen would have been stopped by the extra 20,000 police officers. Maybe extra intelligence and anti terror officers but the Tories have been investing in this part of policing.

The response to both atrocities was first rate and dealt with quickly. Had it taken 30 minutes to respond and more people had died then Labour might have a point.

It's simple electioneering and extremely distasteful on the part of Labour, looking for political capital out of people's deaths.

I'm not replying to all of it, some I agree with some not.

But do you genuinely not think the circa +20% lead she took into this campaign was a huge lead? All the commentators called it a huge lead and when you think Cameron's lead in 2015 was circa +1%, I'd say +20% was pretty huge.

And how does claiming it was a huge lead in any way sound "desperate"??? I am shocked to be honest at how she's managed to squander such a huge lead. I am certainly not using it as bragging points: Quite the opposite.

EDIT, the Tory lead going into this election was the 2nd highest of any party since 1945, and according to some recent polls, the highest ever. So yes, it was a huge lead. So I have just won that argument.
Congratulations.

But I was replying to this...

"Using <Bluemoon> as a barometer" is not exactly a methodology likely to be adopted by MORI any time soon, I might add. When you consider there was a big Labour majority on this thread before the campaigning even started. There's people on here would vote for Lenin if he were to stand.

Do keep up.

It's a bit desperate telling everyone how big the lead "used to be".

Give your head a wobble mate, ever heard of community policing to identify the possible trouble makers early on.
"Distasteful on the part of Labour"? - May chose to make it political in her speech - Jezz responded in kind.

May was speaking as prime minister, what was she supposed to do? She didn't then go on and have a diatribe against Corbyn.

Do you really believe community policing would uncover this type of atrocity..?

May just quoted 2 ongoing policies and 2 from the manifesto completely political and as usual said and offered nothing new bar a new soundbite, 'enough is enough' I genuinly despair at the thought of her being PM again. If the tories do win I hope they get rid she is beyond belief

Policing of some sort, but the tories have slashed it to the bone, 'big society', let neighbourhood watch sort it out, "all in it together".

Like Thatcher, she's just a figurehead, a salesperson, she does as she is told by the think tank, the head of the snake.

Any chance you can reveal to us then, the sliding scale of tory atrocity?

Only the three so far Theresa, ah fuck em, wait until it reaches ten.

Whatever happens it won't be the landslide the opportunistic May was sure it would be. She'll be out the door soon enough.

Lets try and spell this one out for you.
During May's tenure as Home Sec and PM there have been cuts of 20,000 police officers, cuts in surveillance (as this has been moved to cyber surveillance) which has saved the government money and cuts in border security too.
We continue to supply the Saudi's with the weaponary which has already ended up in the hands of radical groups including ISIS.

That final sentence is the one that hurts most. Our government is involved in the links that creates the likes of Manchester and London and i honestly cant believe nobody talks about it.

Do you think we would be any less safe than we already are?

I thought she had suspended election policies yet there she was 12hrs after the attack going on about Tory policy and saying that there has been far too much tolerance.

"MAY, YOU WERE THE HOME SECRETARY FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS, YOU TOLERATED IT AND WE HAD TO LIVE IN IT."

How many of your homes has nice security gates and CCTV to keeo you safe at night..........no me neither

The Home Secretary has refused to rule out further police cuts following a Labour election pledge to put 10,000 more police officers on the beat

In an interview on Tuesday (May 2nd) it was suggested to Amber Rudd that she had made “no promise on numbers, no promise on budget”.

“We will have to see what comes out with the manifesto,” the Conservative MP told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

At least they've not cut army numbers by 20,000 at the same time.....

Can it be argued because of the Labour government and its disastrous economic policy's is the reason there are 20,000 less police ?
